I was bored today, so my cousin and I pulled the exhaust baffles off our Honda XR70 minibike. I think it showed a gain of power due to the removal of the exhaust restriction. Anyone know what other cheap mods there are for a just-for-fun motorbike? I'd be looking to spend no more than like 200 dollars. I'm thinking air filters or something. Is there anything else to do?

There is not much that you can do on your Honda however you can extend the limiter on the throtle cable at the carburator side to open the internal carburator TB/butterfly more.

You can change the rear pinion for more speed or better acceleration or you can put a bigger use carburator but again, there is not much that you can do.

You can get a foam filter that would help you breath better for probably around 40 bucks or less. Go down a tooth on the front sprocket and it will pull harder out of the hole but you will lose some top end. Depending on if you ride in muddy/wet conditions you could drill some small say 1 inch holes in the air box for more air also. You might want to get a jet kit and change the main and idle since you will be getting more air in so more fuel will be needed also. You should be able to get all that for less than $75. A new exhaust would be the best mod but unless you can find one on eBay there not in your price range.

Thanks guys. I found a kit for 150 bucks shipped that has a wee little cone filter intake and air cleaner, plus 20mm carb. I think I'll get that.
