Mazda 6 vs. VW GTI

This isn't a poll for looks or anything, just overall, which would you rather own? I still cannot decide

My roommate's got a VR6, but it's handling leaves a little to be desired - that V6 is so big and heavy and the car nosedives way too much in autocrossing. The Mazda6s will handle much better and that's probably what I value most in a car.

I'm biased because I recently had a newer VW (not VR6), so I like the Gunther and Dieter engineering factor. Yeah the VR6 is a bit porky in the front end from weight, I wish VW would get the 225 hp 1.8 from the TT and slap that in. You could then chip it and even get more HP and get some better handling as well.

I'd say a Mazda 6...especially the I-4 as HKS is doing R&D on a turbo kit for that engine, while the V6 doesn't have enough room for a turbo kit and only NA gets the V6...making the i-4 the choice for tuning.

I've driven a VR6....don't like them at all.

i prefer the mean look of the mazda vice the honda ricer look of the gti. I have raced a GTI and can tell you that the 1.8T is a fast car. I'd say, this is just from the race... that the GTI is running high 14's. I didn't really think the mazda was all that fast but it's looks are what wins me over!

I bought a Mazda6i silver two weeks ago. Can't say nothing bad about that car. It's just hard to not get speeding tickets cause you can hardly hear the road. Plus, 17inches wheel on Michelin Pilot helps a lot!

I have smoke an Acura RSX with my stock 6i... So I guess the car IS kinda fast too...

I hit 115KM/h in second speed... 3 left to go

Umm.. I never answer but I will today.. I already pulled a Evo in my car.. so rantaslut, the car must have been really stock.

The Mazda 6 is nice, but the 1.8T has so much potential is not even funny. I love my 1.8T, and I have been considering buying a EVO, but my car is 10g's less in PR.

My roommate in his GTI VR6 and I in my then stock OZ went to an autocross a few weeks ago. It was my first autocross and he's been doing it for 4 years. He was even running wider, larger OZ F1 rims with Kumho Ecstas. His best time was less than a tenth of a second faster than mine. I'd say it's wholly possible for an OZ to beat a GTI, so long as it's not in a straight line.

I beat a VR6 the other day... they are quick but after 2nd he was seeing only my as@! I slowed he passed then gave the thumbs up. Makes you feel good when guys are ok with getting done like that. Most just pass w/o looking like nothing happened... as if they are in state of shock! Well it was just a little lancer that beat them so i'd be shocked to i guess. God i love my sleeper!

Go for the GTI but get the 1.8t. My G/f has one with a neuspeed chip and a cat back and it hauls ***. She rarely gets beaten
