BMW Z4 M Coupe
BMW Z4 M Coupe
Well, I've been looking into getting a small sports car. Im really interested in the MZ4 Coupe. Well, it has the heart of an M3 - S54 to start with. Well, what do you guys think about this car?
Here are some pics off the BMW website:

Well according to BMW, the ones pictured is an Interlagos Blue, however, everytime I see an Interlagos Blue on a Bimmer, it doesnt look like the ones pictured, which i think looks absolutely gorgeous. The ones I see look more purplish.

There is one around my neighborhood and it looks stunning. The color is Space Gray, its lowered, tinted windows, and has HREs, if Im not mistaken I think they are 547Rs, but w/e. It looks awesome.
GO DRIVE ONE!!! they are boat loads of fun! i have gotten pretty attached to them myself. not to many of them come in for service because there new and the people that have them never seem to drive them but i have had acouple of them and they are a very nimble feeling car. just go DRIVE one!!!!
Tnx for the input guys. As for the Exige/Elise, well its a bit too harsh for me as I plan to use this occassionally, since my wife seems to be clingy on the E92. Well anyhow, I plan on test driving on of these suckers. I do plan on modifying this car as well, so I was wondering if u guys know if performance parts for the M3 bolt on to this car?

Also, can anyone verify if the car above is really Interlagos Blue. Interlagos Blue, from what I've seen from fellow M3 friends seems to be purplish, which I really dont like that much.
I have this car, and I came from the EVO. I've had it for about 6 months are here is my feedback:
PROS:
- It's a great handling car with lots of potential (better track car than the evo)
- Great balance and CG (very easy to learn to drive fast)
- Power is smooth and linear but not ferociously quick
- Interior is fabulous and amenities are plentiful (everything from sat nav to heated seats to bluetooth)
- Ride quality is stiff but very streetable
CONS:
-more of a GT car, not pure or as racy as a lotus exige or Z06
-limited aftermarket
-life of car (speculation that 07 is the last year)
-stock tires are junk
-suspension a little bouncy (needs more low speed rebound)
Overall, it's a great bargain I think. Yes it's about 55k, but it's lighter than an M3, with a lower CG and shorter wheelbase.
I've driven the Cayman S, RS4, Lotus ExigeS and even the Z06 and I have to say that everytime I've done it, I can't find a reason to switch cars... the Z4M just has the potential and features that make you want to live with it everyday.

Thanks steve evo for sharing your feedback. Well, this is exactly what Im looking for. A GT type, I've always wanted an S2000, but its power just doesnt cut it. Although you could add FI to that car (sweet screaamin VTECH turbo
), I think that I still will demand for a nicer car. Yes it has tons of aftermarket support, but in the end, I'll always crave for the Bimmer. So yeah, back on topic, sad to see that it has a limited aftermarket. Question though, cant you just bolt on M3 parts, i.e. Dinan throttle butterflies? I mean isnt it pretty much same engine on a different car? Oh well, whatever's available is available...Oh yeah I did test drive it today, yes, I agree, its an awesome ride, not to mention sweet lookin too. I guess the limited aftermarket is logical for this car is already a good contender stockwise

The M Coupe does use the same M3 S54 engine, however it uses a different transmission (from the 330i) and the M Coupe uses a different engine management system so you can't use the programs/engine mods out there from Dinan and Conforti.
Good news is that some good suspension/brake options exist:
-Moton suspension
-TC Kline Koni suspension
-Stoptech big brake kit
-Tons of pad options for stock brakes (which actually work great)
Personally I don't think the car needs much on the power side, since the car is meant to go around turns really really fast.
I've taken it out to Willow springs and Buttonwillow and the stock setup is surprisingly pretty solid and exceptionally fast.
At worst, you get get away with better tires and track pads and run circles around the competition.

Ah I get it now. Wish there were a much larger aftermarket tho. Anyhow, glad to see you love the car. Cant wait to pick up mine. BTW, what color is yours if you dont mind me asking. Im undecided between Interlagos or Silver Gray.
