2008 ACCORD pics, ride and drive, REVIEW

I was able to attend the ride and drive for the brand new Accord today. The car is scheduled for release September 12th. All I can say is "WOW, I'm impressed." The car is head and shoulders above the current generation. It will now step on the toes of Acura just as Toyota's Avalon and Camry have done to Lexus. They also provided Altimas and Camrys to drive and demo for comparisons sake. The Accord blows the Altima away in terms of interior quality, luxury, and interior space. The Altima has a noticable lag when accelerating w/ its CVT transmission. As far as the Camry goes I only was able to drive there underpowered 4 cyl version. The ride was very soft and spongy with absolutely no get up. While the Accord's handling is crisp, nimble and responsive. The Accord will come with two 4 cyl motors. Both 2.4L, one rated at 173 hp and the other at 192 hp. The new 3.5 L V6 will offer 273 hp. The 6 speed manual V6 coupe was impressive. The styling is very 335 and G35ish. Honda will no longer offer the touch screen navigation due to relocating it higher in the center counsel and more in the drivers view. I was bummed at first but see the safety reasoning behind it. The navi is basically the same one offered in Acuras RL. If you don't know... it is rated the #1 navi system on the market. It is amazing in its features and its simlicity. Blue tooth, foglights, 17" and 18" wheels, Variable cylinder management, projectors, and tons of other features have been added. The dash is a work of art.

Open for discussion. Tell me what you guys think. The last picture I got a kick out of... Thats me selling a car in Rocky Point Mexico!

I really like the styling on the coupe. If it was RWD I'd seriously consider buying one.

the coupe's not too bad. while i'm really not feeling the fatness of the rear end, the huge tails, and the nissan slant, the front end has some nice edges and the side profile and front quarter looks more refined.

OTOH, the sedan reminds me of a hyundai.

Isnt that amazing.. honda copied the accord, now the accord copies the sharp edges of the hyundai. Why didnt honda give the accord sharp lines to begin with?

i work at Acura and i was talking to the Honda rep and he said the reason honda was stepping up their game is because Acura is going to be slowly moving to all SH-AWD and more turbo line ups

They needed to step up the game to keep up with Toyota and Nissan. This new Accord is on point with Acura qulity and technology. Although I agree that it looks a little like the Hyandai.... the sedan is really pretty unique in its design. I am confident that it will sell well for years to come just like Accords have always done. As far as Acura goes, I'm glad to see the engineers are moving in that direction.
