Mazda RX-8

The car is growing on me, it may lack in the torque department but it has a very nice exhaust note, ran the top gear track at the exact same time as an E46 M3, 4 seats... Xenons, an AWSOME interior, room for 4 and an almost perfect weight distribution... sure it may be a bit heavy on gas, but oh well. What about the reliability and durability of the car? It may not be the fastest but it's not very expensive used either... But is it a car you can give hell and it will be just fine? I mean aggressive driving, maybe some auto x once in a while... a strip trip? Sure this isn't a Mazda forum but this car seems pretty decent.

Wankel rotary = lotsa issues.
Good friend has one. Not bad on gas if your foots not into it as any car. Nice styling I agree and looks super nice with subtle exterior. Rear seats are more for little ones than adults, it's a tight fit. Nothing compared to an Evo of course. I'd say a nice car for driving but nothing intense or thrilling.
If you have a friend or family that works for Ford, you can get a brand new one on D-plan for way good price. I think its a little under the dealer invoice for the car.

Nice looking car, but I would rather own my old torqeless RSX Type S...at least Honda builds reliable engines!

It's a great handling car, very nice on the inside, and it is fun to rev to 9k The old NA rotaries in the 1st and 2nd gen RX7s are bombproof. It's the boosted 3rd gen that gave the rotary a bad name. For some reason, they've had tuning issues with the current RX-8.

This was my take on the RX8. It has about the same gas mileage as the Evo, but no *****. Might as well have a fat torque curve in the middle like the Evo if you're going to get crap gas mileage

I do like the RX8 though... it has placed higher than the 350Z in various mag comparisons, FWIW.

So is this one of the bombproof scenarios? Wankel Rotary= Lotsa issues... but what are they? Is it just the motor that delivers issues or other stuff with the car ie. drivetrain... etc

From what i heard it is just the motor of the car that really blows... I also Heard it likes to eat oil, lots of it..

used to sell these at a mazda dealership and they were a boat load of fun to drive when i would go home for the weekend... but they have power issues, and many were being brought back on flat beds for engine issues.

Agreed on other guy.. Get a super clean 93-96 they look nice run super fast and are known to get AT LEAST 50,000 miles

I don't know how credible your advice is... they didn't even make one in 1996... PS, the FD RX-7 is one of the most unreliable cars of ALL TIME.

Have one, it's an excellent car to drive, and is awesome value for money. Decent luxury too.

I think it's an absolutely beautiful car and I like the 2door 4door idea... I just don't like what I keep reading about the power... I remember seeing in magazines advertisements for turbo kits to get the car up to 200 lb/ft of torque....

It's slow.

Honestly not much faster than my miata, but a great great great sports car and daily driver.

Not to mention the engine is like the smoothest sex you've ever had.
