Just in case anyone has 150K laying around!

All of us EVO owners are filthy rich, so I thought I would post a link If you one of the fastest street cars if not the fastest this is you. Car makes 1150rwhp on pump and over 1500rwhp on race, full interior, AC, radio, can you guess what it is?

FAST...but by no means daily driven...this model vipers get sooo hot in the cockpit (stock)....there isn't much weather insulation between the passenger and the engine ...I can't even imagine how hot it gets modified with or without AC...the seats are soo cramped even for a guy my size ( I am 5'7) which doesnt make it easier to even breath.

Conclusion...this model is worthless for street driving...VERY uncomfortable...I have seen drag cars that were more comfortable...I honestly would not buy the one you are showing for 40k.

Now the SRT10 is whole different story...more creature comfort, leg room , headroom, and you want go home sweating like a pig....needs some work though if you dont want to hug a tree eventually....but thats ok...I still like it.

Jasil...we both love American muscle...but on this one I have to disagree bro

The Viper has it's shortcomings Hot cockpit especially by the thigh, crappiest sounding exhaust note this side of a NA honda, if you have ever driven one they feel like a boat like your sitting way in the back, so no real disagreement there. I know you have Waz considering you owned a 03'!!

I think Gen II's are some of the sexiest cars made exterior wise and this one has a history with it holding the fastest 6spd record for awhile with 7.98@183mph pass and even though I'll agree with the shortcomings that is a full interior A/C and all.

I'm much more fond of Ford GT's and 911 TT's, but for relentless annihilation in a straightline TT Vipers sit atop the roost for a street car IMO.

How's the 37R'd EVO doing? Care to give a write vs your old SC Viper?

Glade to see we are on the same page here Jasil ...I do also rather have a moded Ford GT or a 911 TT ....They both behave better in a straightline than a moded Viper...I have no first hand experience with the GT however...but the engine's position makes it better on paper at least.

Now you could ask me why I kind of steered away from the Viper after moding...good question...the answer is simple....the Viper ( stock) is unpredictable at the limit even in a straight line...the least amount of wheel hop could cost you your life...and an expensive car...Now...imagine having even more Torque than you should have....then you have a death wish...The amount of torque that I had in my S/C'ed Viper was allot but also not really usable unless you are in a drag strip with slicks and suspension tweaks. Otherwise forget it. The Viper WILL and i mean WILL take you sideways without you knowing it. The occasional "step on the gas" on the street is a no no.

Now comparing the Evo that I have now with my old Viper could take a long thread. But I could sum it up by saying the Evo feels better and SAFER. I have 47 whp more in the Evo than the viper. And I even have 50 more Tq ...yeah its funny but its the truth...thanks to E85...Now I know the Viper builds power early and you have a very FAT area under the curve...better than the current Evo...which could make a match very interesting between a Gt37R Evo and a Paxton Viper. However, if I had to bet on the winner I would have to choose my current Evo.

To give the Viper some more credit...It "feels" faster than my Evo if you want to show off power...The torque hits you hard in the nuts ...but in reality ...I dont think it is...above 150mph ...yeah...but who is going there.

In short ....for a daily monster build the Evo cause its safer thanks to AWD...for a dedicated drag car the Viper is your weapon of choice but dont step on it on the way home.

Talking about Vipers made me think of having a TT cobra again...I wish the Evo came with a V8...I love the American rumble....Why cant we just have the perfect car

My S/C ed Viper was a mid to high 10s car....the Evo could do better I think after talking to Buschur.

By the way...I was talking about MY S/C ed Viper....and MY experience...there are WAY faster vipers out there...the life expectancy of the drivers is short probably J/K

Through the years I compiled a short list of pros and cons for both cars:

a 2003 Paxton Supercharged Viper

Pros:
- Exotic no matter how you put it.
- You feel and see the power building early.
- Its RELIABLE. You get no issues what so ever. Cause its simple. Maintenance is also minimal. I was making power on STOCK clutch!!
- Making power on pump gas.

Cons:

- expensive car.
- You just cant park it and forget about it outside your house. It grabs attention good and bad. Someone will be tempted to key it one day.
- Its reliable but not practical. You cant take it to work without worrying about scraping something.
- Power is there but cant be used in all surfaces.
- Parts are high $$.
- Everybody expects you to be the fastEST ... they will challenge you ALL the time.. and god forbid if you loose. You are expected to win all the races " you have a VIPER" . People are stupid and they will never leave you alone.
- 2 seater.

A GT37R Evo..

Pros:
- Its an underdog...not allot of people expect it to be fast...and when it goes its fun to see the surprised look on peoples faces.
- The car is very stable at the limit...all surfaces warrior...and it builds confidence.
- the car and its parts are cheap compared to a Viper. If something goes wrong that is.
- Without the wing it has a sleeper look. Its more fun to punish exotics with an econobox .
- a space for four.

Cons:
- Not the most attractive car.
- You have to check logs and plugs frequently if your making big power. After all your making all this power out of a four cylinder.
- lag is a negative thing, but its very overrated here. You really just have to keep your car in the power band. But hey, still one of the cons.
- If your making big power good chances its on race gas or E85. Meth won't cut it if you are competing against a moded viper. In my case E85 is very available.

I love both cars...and both made me happy...between both...you really have to pick your poison...Me with a kid on the way...I picked the Evo...I am not in it for show any more....its more go.

I hope that helps Jasil ...sorry if its too long...but allot of people asked me to compare both.

No problem bro ...I see you now wanting a C6 or a TT Porsche...well if the finances are there I would mod a TT...you will be surprised at what you can do with a tune..get an older TT however.. the new ones have some reliability issues.

The cheaper and very interesting way to go is to get a C6, build the bottom end ,and install a rear mounted TT kit from STS. I love the C6...hell the C5 was a great car.

Whats crazy about this whole thing is that I sold this Viper to Garth Weaver a few years back. Crazy to see that its now the worlds fastest...No matter how you look at it or talk smack its still a bad *** car, timeless design, and imho the best styled viper compared to the newer, just my opinion....were all entitled

thanks

Evo owners all have money trees growing in their back yards. My tree doesn't work for some reason.

THANK YOU!
I'm just an average Evo kid, but I'm sick of people ragging on me that I have no low-end power. SO FREAKING WHAT?!?! just keep your revs up, and you're fine. I've driven enough LS1 and LS2 cars to make an educated decision on this. My nearly stock IX pulls harder than a 6.0GTO up to around 100mph.
