Should I sell my car for this? Need Opinions...

Currently I drive a 2003 Acura RSX Type-S and pay $285 for the car payment and also pay $285 for the insurance (because of my driving record). I've recently been contemplating selling the car to buy something much more affordable on insurance...

I found a 99 SVT Contour for sale, in excellent shape with a couple of mods and 79k miles for $5,600... the seller seems very knowledgeable and the car is in superb shape, with brand new pads, rotors, all new fluids and new tires...

On the SVT Contour, I would be paying roughly $180 per month payment (for 4 years), and about $166 per month on insurance.. bringing my total monthly payment/insurance cost from about $570 to $346..

These cars have questionable reliability and that's my only concern...

but would you guys trust this car and go for the cheaper insurance or would you stay away and buy something else?

Next time have a better driving record? Insurance on my Porsche (I'm 21) is less than your's on your RSX (not by much, but still). My recommendation would be to either keep the RSX or buy something else, but only because I hate Mustangs

Mustangs? It's an SVT Contour, not a mustang...

and btw, I haven't gotten a ticket since June of 2006 but my insurance company only cares about the distant past.

From what I hear, the SVT Contours are very nice handling cars. One of the best handling sedans from the 90s.

go with the svt - a buddy of mine has one- they hand like a dream for a ford lol - and they have a decent amount of power - 5600 seems a little steep for the miles but i could be wrong- but go with what you think is a good deal - and really remember you get what you pay for
