I think Nissan just did a wonderful job reworking the VQ35 to the point that it's worth 1.5 to 2 seconds better at the track. Aargh! I can't help but think about the Z and whether or not I should trade\sell my Evo for it. If only the X was a bit more powerful, a lot more lighter and a lot more cheaper, I wouldn't mind trading up for that.

 

why.....Evo or Z....is that a question.

 

i had an 04 Z...it was nice, you get all the compliments in the world from people that see you. the engine sounds sweet! with the right suspension it could be a good track car as well. engine is responsive (obviosly no turbo lag)...

i traded for my evo 9 because it had back seats and with minor bolt ons i can be in the low 12's EASY...let's not forget the AWD system!

...sometimes i miss the Z

 

gotta love RWD sports cars, but that's the currently struggle I"m in. need something a bit more practical. but not everyone lives in the arctic like I do. haha.

 

The '07 and '08 Z's are MUCH quicker/faster stock than previous VQ35DE equipped Z's... best stock so far is 13.2@107, which is .4 and ~3-4mph faster that the fastest DE car. The VQ35HR is ~80% different than the VQ35HR... after one of the biggest Z/G builders tore the new engine down, they found that it seemed to be built more for boost than before (except for the bump in compression).

I lol'd at the guy that couldn't control the Z in the rain w/o TC on... I had an '03 base Z (no TC) and I NEVER had a problem in rain, snow or ice. Just gotta know how to drive.

 

I see that they used the same engine from the 07 g35, the z is a lot lighter though!

 

My buddy has a 03 that went 13.6 @104 stock, fastest ive ever seen a 350z go.
