Jerey Clarkson on 135i (5 stars!) and comparing to EVO and STI

Quote:
"Of course, a Mitsubishi Evo or a Subaru Impreza will grip more and slingshot you from bend to bend with more urgency, but if you prefer a more flowing style - less grip and more handling – then you would be better off with the little Beemer."

How can it have less grip but more handling?

Also, a flash is $2k.

I love Jeremy's reviews (and Top Gear) and think a lot of people in our EVO segment will be considering the new 135i.

I work for a BMW service center in VA and I have been doing a lot of sorting through the details. This is probably going to be my next purchase. The car is fun to drive like the Evo and the comforts are all there.

This has to be taken in context... Grip is traction and handling is a subjective feeling. The Evo & Impreza have more traction but don't "Feel" as sophisticated.

Good read - I love reading that car companies are recognizing the benefit of giving a turbo, a turbo

Are you serious...I bought a brand new 2006 325i when I was 25, you probably haven't even driven a newer bimmer. The fact is all bimmers handle incredibly well, they are in my opinion the best commonly built cars in the world. You can not touch the straight six that bmw builds. On top of that the ride quality is amazing considering how it handles. Going a little further the quality of interior materials are second maybe to MB. Go drive that 135i and I bet your opinion will change.
400hp (chip+exhaust) BMW FTMFW
I'd take it over an evo as a dd any day.
