new chevy 427 alum engine
my uncle works at a large chevy dealership in the chicago area. he is parts manager. his new ordering catalog he just got has a revision of the chevy 427. while i believe the old one was cast block with aluminum heads, this one is alum block and heads. they are only making 427 of them and they will be serial numbered. only huge dealerships are getting the crate motors in, he is not even sure if his will be getting any. the catalog did not list a price. my dad had a 68 nova withe the 427. stock motor with only heads and would run low 12's all day in a nova. he said it was putting out about 400hp. my dad has owned about every car with every engine (he often jokes that if he still had every car that hes sold or crashed hed be a millionaire) and he swears that the 427 is a perfect match of a torque monster and high reving engine and was always way under rated from the factory. i have to agree with him. this alum one will be bad ***. comes in a crate so you can slap it into anything in which it will fit. anyone else heard of this yet?
