2000 Hyundai Sonata V4 to V6
I need help EvoM friends, I got a 2000 Hyundai Sonata (for free
) but the guy who gave me the car told me it was 6 cylinder and it needed a new engine. However, last night when I was getting everything off to get ready for the swap, I see that it is a 4 cylinder, I already bought a 6 cylinder, so now I dunno wtf to do. Anyone know if the 6 cylinder swap is possible, and if so, wtf do I need to do to make this work?

I guess its similar to posting in a hyundais other car section if an a v6 eclipse engine can swap with the 4 cylinder eclipse engine. They would probaby refer you to a forum that deals with eclipses.

Yeah, I get that, however, two things, first, I trust you guys a LOT more, and second, that forum isn't as active as this one is, I posted about 5 days ago, and I have had 347 views, and not one friggin answer. I just really need to get this done, because wifey is in dire need of this vehicle, and I'm doing my best, but can't find the answer, lol. Plus I don't want the V6 to be giving out to much power, and the tranny in the car just f's up. Bcuz I'm not sure if the car takes a different tranny from V4 to V6

Do you have everything for the swap?
You will probably need an entire front clip from a V6 car, including ECU, Wiring harness, Motor mounts, possibly engine cradle, TRANSMISSION (and associated bits such as half shafts and axles)
If I were you, I'd just replace the stock 4 banger.
On a side note, my wife has a 2000 Elantra wagon, and its physical configuration (and even motor mount location) is real close to the layout of some of the late model mitsubishi 4G64 applications I've seen... I'd been pondering that one for awhile.

Yeah, I was afraid of having to get a new transmission, I didn't want to have to go that route, the problem is that the engine already in the car is seized, and no one else has a 4 cylinder anywhere
Too bad the sonata isnt older, he 89-92 Sonatas were powered by no other than the mighty 6-bolt 4g63. Anyway, I would be willing to bet that our favorite motor would slide right into the 2000 model as well. That is actually a pretty neat idea.. 350hp Sonata anyone?

lol, no no no, this is for my girl friend, and she doesn't need that kind of power. And Culviier, unfortunately I did not check just as a HUGE mistake on my part because of the fact that I trusted the guy who told me. I have been looking on car-parts, but as u said they are upwards 1k to 1500. Lemme ask you guys another question, you think I could talk them down by giving back the V6, AND giving them the old engine, the 4 cylinder?
