Since this is about my MS3, I figured I would ask here. The stock wheels on my MS3 are 18x7(24lbs) with a 215/45-18 tire. That setup is to narrow for the car. I have been thinking about going to a 17x8 and using a 235/45-18. This did not receive a warm welcome on the Mazda forum I belong to. All I heard was the car doesn't look right without 18's. I don't really care if it looks right, just as long as it is lighter and wider.

My problem is that I am having a hard time finding the wheel that I want. I have found one, but for a 17" wheel, it is a pig at 20lbs. I found this wheel on tirerack.

Here is what I need:

17x8
48mm to 50mm offset
114.3x5 bolt pattern
67.1mm hub diameter

 

You could always go for a 18 x 8 since there's a lot of lightweight rims in that size.
