Check out the new Honda S2000R. Although there is not much external difference other than a enlarged wheel well and extended bumpers, this new car has a new engine that allows it to run with the more expensive convertibles such as the M Roadster, Boxster S and AMG SLK's. The Starting price for the S2000R would be around $54,000.

Surprised at the poll results, given the demographics of the site... 3:1 would take an overweight GT over a true sports car...

wow, you really are crazy as hell aren't you?

350z is a sports car with it's ancestry deeply rooted in the very definition of a sports car. the 240z, 280z, 280zx, and 300zx were what the enthusiasts of today dreamed about driving when they were kids. you sir are sorely mistaken.

The 350Z is a slug. I had an S2000 - believe me - it would eat a 350Z for lunch on ANY road, short of a dragstrip.

350z was my decision because of the torque. S2000 has like what, 150 lb/ft? Less effort to drive fast. Value wise, I feel the 350z wins there also. More luxuries. But if it came right down to it in a performance battle stock for stock, s2000 probably wins.

That's what my psychologist keeps telling me.

The 240Z was a true sports car - small, lightweight, good power, no frills, just a lot of fun to drive. The 280 drifted from that concept a bit by adding mainstream wants like more power and more size, and the 300ZX was a heavy but powerful GT, just as the 350 is. The difference is subtle, but there is a difference. The 350Z is a mass-market GT - Easy to drive, all the luxuries and frills of a near-luxury sedan. It is almost completely removed from its ancestry - just like the current M3 is.

The S2000 fits both those descriptions. The Z does to a lesser degree, as well.
