Getting a bike today. Insurance???

Hey guys, I will be getting my 2006 Yamaha R6 today :0)
I was wondering, who you people with bikes have for insurance?
I got a few quotes, and the lowest for full coverage was 1,500$ a year.
Too bad I can't just get liability (Because of the loan for the bike) it would have been 200$ a year

State Farm charged me 26 bucks a month for coverage, because my loan was through them!

If you're under 25 forget about full coverage.

State Farm. BOTTOM LINE! They are the cheapest by far.

Im 27, 4 points on my license and ride a '07 GSXR 750. $525/yr for full coverage.

Anyone that rides a newer bike with liability only is ignorant in my opinion. Get full coverage its worth it. If you drop a newer bike even going 25mph you're going to do a couple thousand in damage easily. Just my $.02.

Try Gieco. I switched to Gieco on my bike and I saved a lot money... LOL remember the old commercials? Seriously though they were the best deal I could find.

Congrats on the bike. I got a 2005 R6 (Raven).

I have Progressive but they suck. State Farm doesn't insure where I live.

Get State Farm.

Jarod,

Have you heard of USAA? Really, no other company comes close to it, I repeat and insist, no other company(except Geico). All others are the shade of USAA. Also, you can not compare rates from different states, they are so different that the prices are very mismatched.

When you live close to the Mexican border (Southern states) you have to pay extra for the fact that these states have higher theft rates. In AZ for instance you don't have to wear a helmet which obviously reflects on how many more people enlarge the motrcycle fatality rate.

Not picking on you man, just my point of view..

Carlos

USAA is opening up to friends and family I believe. Anyways, I have both my car and bike insured with State Farm, and only pay~$25-$30 a month on the bike for full coverage. If you have a new sportbike, you better get full coverage; they tend to be high theft items.

State Farm for the win. I have been a motorcycle salesman for almost 8 years and their rates and service are the best. They insure my motorcycle, cars and house.
