Gauntlet thrown: Corvette ZR1 laps the 'Ring in 7:26.4
131 MPH trap speed + 7:26 at the 'Ring on 200 treadwear tires (and could go faster) + 20 MPG + magnetic ride control + $100k price tag + serviceable at the local Chevy dealer = the win.
Not too long ago, you had to pay $500k+ to get that kind of performance - Zonda F or Carrera GT.
I wonder how much work it'll take to get these things trapping 140+ MPH?? Bolt ons??

The Zonda has several inferior specs as compared to the ZR1. I highlighted the power (hp) simply because one uses the European ps and the other uses the American SAE hp (which is slightly under rated). Either way the ZR1 and Zonda times seems believable when you look at the specs, the Nissan GTR doesn’t.
Zonda F Clubsport
Power: 649.9ps @ 6200rpm
Torque: 575 ft•lb @ 4000rpm
Weight: 2712 lbs
Tyres: PS2 255 (F), PS2 335 (R)
Brake: Carbon Ceramic 380(F), 335 (R)
Corvette ZR1
Power: 638 SAE hp @ 6500rpm
Torque: 604 ft•lb @ 3800rpm
Weight: 3324 lbs
Tyres: PS2 285 (F), PS2 335 (R)
Brake: Carbon Ceramic 393.7 (F), 381 (R)

I doubt you're going to go from 129mph to 140mph with only a bump of ~130hp, not to mention the couple hundred pounds of weight gain. Need a lot of traction also. I'd guess maybe a 135mph trap on a good day with no mods. A pulley swap and retune would be nice....

Quite simply one of the best cars ever made, without even considering price. It's not as insane looking as an exotic, and 99% of people won't know that it isn't a base corvette from sometime this decade, but that kind of adds to the fun as well. Corvette managed to make a super sleeper that can be driven everyday and worked on by shadetree mechanic that costs less than 1/3 of an average home, unbelievable!
i would rather get the R35
because its a 4 seater, more practical
the styling of that car is revolutionary
easier to drive(4WD)
if we dont look at performance only and just look at the whole package
i believe the R35 will still stand out
look at the interior quality all those
but i am certainly eager to see how top gear is going to review on this car
haha, should be entertaining

i personally would choose the vette over the r35 that car is simply amazing! i wish i wasnt 20 and in school when this thing comes out
haha the design of that engine is crazy. that thing out of the bag will need a dang caGE just to run at the track! it will blow 11.50's out of the water. so when you go buy one make sure you tell them to install that roll cage option haha

Anyway, lets go with real numbers, poor driving Z06 owners trap 120, average traps mid 120's with excellent drivers traping high 120's. The ZR1 should be around low 130's stock possibly high 130's with the pulley and retune.. who knows, we might have to wait but that is my best guess.

Definately the ZR1 is a car to respect, it is a comfortable ride with inmense power and fully loaded of comfort. A Ferrari Enzo is nice, very nice, everyone wish they had one but the ZR1 can perform/will perform as much or even more.. it really makes you think twice about the price, at this point $100000 is small change when you think of what you get..

I am guessing that the interior (like my Evo) is cr@p and that it squeaks and may have the infamous dancing Vette hood at speed (maybe not because the clear part reinforces it?) and numerous other issues. Yes, it is a super fast car for $100,000 but MG probably loses money on each one they sell and you have deal with typical Chevy build quality, etc. Porsche (for example) sells a 997S with a few doodads added on for 100,000, it is not as fast but it is gonna be miles ahead in interior quality, steering feel etc., and makes a profit off each one. They do not have the size to be able to sell anything as a halo car that loses money. Neither does Ferrari., etc.
Me personally? F the Ferrari, I am all about bang for the buck. If my garage (and my wallet) were fatter, then I would love to have this in my stable next to the Evo.
