fact is my evo is 3/4 of my bills. I'm a college student and i work full time (mostly to support the habit) I'm kinda just tired of paying flat 800 to drive a car a month between the 450 monthly car payment and 250 insurance payment. As everyone else knows there are other expenses too, but i seriously can't see myself in another car after having my evo.

I'd sell the Evo. Being in school and working almost solely to support the car isn't necessarily thinking long-term. After you graduate and get a better gig, you'll be able to buy any Evo that you want. Personally, I'd try to buy a house before an expensive car. Good luck.

I had an '03 lancer all through school, the payments where around 350 a month, I paid the car off while I was in school, and when I graduated I bought an evo for my present to myself (I got a good job before I graduated) and I am able to keep the Lancer for my daily driver, and mod the evo for fun. The lancer SUCKS, dont get me wrong, but the evo was motivation to graduate

thats the route i'm going to take. I'm going to sell off the evo and just put the money i put towards the evo, into a house fund

I like the MazdaSpeed 3 if you have to downgrade. But that's just me. a WRX is also a nice choice as well. Good Luck.

you read my mind^^^! step away from the dark side and join the light side of extra money in your pocket, highest in its class handling/power/refinement and a steadily growing aftermarket that makes the mazdaspeed 3 much faster than stock evos right now.

i almost went for the evo but after realizing i would be broke to support my "habit" i decided to be a little more sensible while still having loads of boosted fun g/l with yuor decision

I'd recomend a decent used/modded car to get you through school, get a better job, buy a house, then get an evo again.

I had a used range rover, then a new zx3 that i had fun modding and still use as a payed-off trackday car.

a used mazdaspeed 3 would definitely hold you over.

ahhh, I remember paying a lot for insurance... now I pay 80 a month for my evo. However I can't go along with the others who say sell simply because I think the value will rise and if you have had the car for a year or more you've invested a lot into something that you won't get anything out of later on.

Definitely sell the evo for some kind of reliable beater, it will be cheaper on insurance and payments and GAS. Set aside that extra saved money for another Evo later or a house or whatever. Believe me, it's hard to do this when you're young but if you hold onto the Evo, sure it's fun now, but you will regret it in the future. I think everyone knows that modded Evo's don't hold value very well these days.

But...to better answer your initial question. Pretty much every production sports-car under $40K (and quite a few over) is a performance "downgrade" from an Evo. But I find RWD cars to be a more fun driving experience personally. Try out a used S2000, or 350z. They can be had for very good prices. Whatever you decide, good luck!

$250/month crap... I must be getting a deal on my cars insurance.
Anyways thats a lot for a college student to handle, I'd recommend getting something cheaper, you can pay off, then saving money. Towards a house or a better car when you graduate.
