Solid performance cars that don't require a ton of upkeep...

This thread is dedicated to performance cars that are FWD, RWD and AWD. The cars on this list must be adhere to the attributes listed below and you MUST POST A PICTURE with your submission and why it should be on the list! There will be NO BASHING either! I will start...

It must be:

-fun
-easy to fix
-NOT high maintenance
-strong/reliable
-cheap to maintain...

Overall the car must be something that can be owned with out a $*** ton of worry or concern. A care free nice car in regards to performance! So keep your ZOMG TEH INTERIORRRR IS TEH GHEYYY.

My pick:

2003-2005 Dodge Neon SRT-4:

WHY?

Clutch is good and strong up til 300whp, low 13 seconds can be achieved with under $1,000 in modifications, it is cheap to buy, handles well and comes with expensive goodies in stock form such as a Quaife LSD, BFG KDW tires, Viper seats. The transmission is strong as is the motor and it does not require any over the top maintenance... just 91+ Octane and a driver.

Miata.

The NB is the best car I've ever driven. After driving a customer's, I went out and got my own the next week. Never looked back.

Toss my vote in for the Miata. I'm pretty sure I'm going to look for one as a weekend car/project next year. Miata + turbo = yay!

I like S2000's, but the used ones are still pretty expensive.

miata, mustang, fbody

s2000, C5, E46/E36 M3 would make the list if their aftermarket wasn't so expensive!

the problem is not likely to be the car, but the storage... cars like to be driven

Was it the alternator and AC? The general hasn't made a good one of either in about 30 years.

it was 5.7 z28.

fuel system (injectors, pump, filter), ignition (never found this one, just couldnt rev past 5500, changed all the pieces including the dist), cooling( radiator).

Might sound like a poorly maintained car if you look at it, but it had 60K miles on it and was filled using only sunoco 94 and had the fluids changed religously. I had it for 8 years and decided that was enough!

I bought an mr2 turbo after that and the only things that broke on it were things I messed with

a big negative on the srt4 my best friend had one and yea its a fun car but all we did to it was tbe intake and tune didnt put down alot of power but after snapping 4 axles he had about enough so he traded it in. the kid who bought it blew it up the first day he owned it. the car was quick but it spent more time at dodge gettin axles put in under warranty then it did on the road. i cant imagine if we wound up putting that stage 3 kit on that he almost bought. i would go with the miata those cars are awsome its like driving a golf cart haha i would love to get one and cram an ls1 in it

What's wrong with them? they are cheap, performance mods are cheap and they handle reasonably well for the money.

Which was the point of the thread.
