What will the future hold for us?

With gas prices and the "energy crisis" will we all be driving boring cars that use little or no gas at all? Will they be boring and no fun?

I came across these two. One I had seen and heard about before on 60 minutes and hoped that the technology will be cheaper in the near future, the other I just recently found and thought hey that would be cool.

I like the Tesla. Once they get all the bugs worked out of it, I think it will be a viable option for those that want a two door sports car. Of course the price would have to come down.

The Aptera, I got nothing on. I coulnd't imagine living with such an oddly misshapen car.

The Tesla has great straight line performance and looks good. The cornering leaves much to be desired from what I've read. I guess all the weight in the car is just behind the seating. Eventually, everything we expect out of a gas powered performance car will be found in electric cars. We just need to give the technology time to catch up.

imo, electric cars will never become a viable alternative to gas as they are still indirectly powered by fossil fuels. i'm more interested in hydrogen as an alternative as you can pretty much use existing platforms and adapt them. there is already a blooming hydrogen refueling network on the west coast. if you like the tesla, how about an actual elise running on hydrogen?

Hydrogen is another good option, but the point is not only to get the cars off of oil, but to change the electiricity supply over to renuable energy like wind, solar, and hydroelectric. It is a good idea to explore all possibilities though.
