Cbr600rr?

I am thinking about picking up a 2008 CBR600RR, anyone have one? With the 2009s just around the corner and riding season pretty much done (except out here in cali ) I figure I can get a good deal on one. Best price I have seen is $9599 OTD. The 1000RR is sex on wheels, but I used to have a 93 900RR and I don't want that kind of monster again lol

How is it on the track? Is it as good as the mags all say? The Evo runs up pretty big maintenance costs, I figure in a year or two the savings from running it at the track will make up for the purchase price lol

I was going to buy a 675 Daytona earlier this year, but my bro ended up buying one so that is out

I hate buying things without a test drive though

Grr yeah I know, I told him I wanted the Daytona and he said it was junk. I told him to test ride one, and he ended up buying it. I was going to wait until the 2009 comes out so I could one-up him with the extra 2 hp or whatever it is getting, but I am tired of waiting lol

The honda will be perfect, but in my opinion, its a very safe choice, why not give the kawasaki or the R6 a test and see how they feel, they look better aswell, but if the price of the honda is much better than any of the others i'd go for that

I want one also but it's starting to rain and get cold here so I'll probably wait. I like the white or the graffiti looks pretty tight. I've heard bad things about the 675 on the bike forums and nothing bad about the cbr. Or get the 848 .

The CBR 600 RR is one of the best,if not the best bike in the superbike 600cc class.

Few months ago i tested one and was very impressed with the handling of the bike.

675 eats oil and if you are not careful about checking it...well motors need oil so you know what will happen. My brother's bike has seen several track days and has not eaten any oil though, so I guess he got a good one. I check the oil in the Evo every week though, so that doesn't bother me.

I know the CBR is the safe choice, but nobody out here (except Triumph and Harley/Buell) allows test rides so I figure safe is good. Only the silvers and oranges are still available here, so I am going to go with the silver if I get one. I am going to go lay my junk on the table either today or tomorrow and see what type of deal I can get.

The 07-08 cbr600rr are at the top of their class from almost every respect they lack low end compared to the 675 but still have mid pop and awesome top end on the track they always turn in the top or second best lap ,, but as we all know its all about the rider .. also i felt the rr was the most comfortable in its class go sit on all the 600cc bikes for a long time ,sit on them leaned over see which one fits you best, TAKE YOUR TIME its your money..

Has anyone come up with an exhaust that does not come out the seat? That is the biggest thing I do not like about the bike.

Edit: I found a red one, I think I am going to buy it tomorrow. I tried sitting on the Kawi and it just does not fit my body lol. And the Yami... I think I am too fat for a bike with that little torque lol.

Oh please....I read all kind of bad things about Evos on this forum too. I have over 6K on my 07 and it has been perfect. They need routine care like any bike. Abuse them/ignore them and you are asking for trouble. The CBR and the Duc are great bikes as well. The Daytona didn't win bike of the year in just about every cycle mag in 07 because it was junk

You plan on bringing this thing to the track? If you plan on bringing it to the track, you're out of your mind to buy it new. Eitherway, I'd buy something used.

Nothing beats Honda reliability although the Daytona looks better I think. If the Daytona is reliable as an evo I wouldn't buy it Might consider what a good local dealer caries too...always nice to be close to somebody that knows their bikes and Honda's are more widely available for the most part. If I could respect a bike I'd get a CBR...but I can't even go slow in my evo so I'd die on a bike probably.
