Good cars! You can buy them AWD too. They can hold a **** ton too. I worked at Toyota and I hardly saw them come through the shop except for basic oil changes. I believe an AWD version can be had for 10k give or take, also depending on your area. AWD/4WD is almost a necessity here for the winters, so AWD/4WD cars can fetch a premium here.

Cobalt SS? 30 mpg and according to C&D and MT, it's just as fast or faster than a X.

I'd buy a civic... 99-00 something like that. Good little cars, cheap to maintain and great on gas. I would think you can find a good one for around $5-6K. Good Luck.

those new civic si's are nice, can get them in sedan or coupe, 6 speed, 200 hp n/a, gas mileage is pretty good too.

+1 on the 08+ Honda Civic Si Coupe/Sedan. Quick little sucker. Cheap price and good on gas 21/29mpg.
