Hyundai Genesis Coupe
Hyundai Genesis Coupe
Pigs have flown, hell is cold.....the world is on its ear and I.....am interested in buying a Hyundai.
I saw the Genesis at the NYC auto show earlier this year, and I was fully impressed.
Many criticize the styling, saying that its just a bunch of styling cues taken from other manufacturers. You're RIGHT! But its not what I care about.
So far I've gathered minimal information on this car, yet I've seen it will use a variation of the 4b11 and a 6 speed manual transmission, mated to an independent rear suspension.
From some inside rumors and speculations, there will be no restrictions on the package offerings, to say that the Turbo 4 will be available with the Brembo brakes and 19" sport wheels, just as the "Premium 306 horsepower V6" will be offered with as well.
I dont know if that is true, but it sure would be nice to finally have some love given to a 4 cylinder. The HP rating is apparently in the 225hp range, but considering it is a brother of the Evo's 4b11, one can only hope they share some similarities in rotating assembly construction, and with some minor tuning will be able to produce and handle greater power.
What does this mean for myself? That the sub 30k, rear wheel drive, turbo 4cylinder car will find its way into my driveway. I was worried about build quality and all things aside, it IS a Hyundai.
Just to ease that tension i went to test drive the 4 door, fully loaded V8 version.
To be totally truthful, this is NO Lexus or whatever one would consider an extremely well manufactured vehicle, however...this is NO HYUNDAI, or what we have all come to know from Hyundai. It is light years ahead of its predecessors and I can say, like Motor Trend, a hairdryer and dental floss to yank the badges is cheap!
What does everyone think? It'll be the first turbo 4, rear wheel drive car since........I can remember. RmR has 6 cars they are producing for Nov 4th, I can't wait to see them. HKS apparently has a full spec race car slated for Time Attack or drifting (not sure)......so I can't wait.

I believe there is a huge post on this. Also Buschur is going to be making parts for it and I believe Jarrod has one on order.Should be a nice car.

Yes its a Hyundai, but Hyundai has upped their game in terms of reliability, performance, looks and is starting to appeal to a wider crowd with the genesis.
The past is the past. Hyundai is coming out with some great cars as of right now and in the future as well.
Didnt see this as a double post. If anyone cares to delete it, thats fine also.
But yes, the past is the past....and Hyundai is really stepping their game up. Like I stated already I drove the 4 door and was quite impressed. They can really move up from here, I just hope that they can shed that stigma of their yesteryears.
