Resto/Repaint of a friends DSM

A good friend of mine is in the process of building his 95 TSi AWD. He has gone nuts with the car replacing subframe bushings, control arms, hub assemblies, etc in an effort to make the car really solid. The car is recieving a fully built 2.4 block and built tranny with a 40r.

When it came time for the paint he sent the car my way, so I have been plugging away at it. He's definitely going on a limb to make this one nice. He even ordered brand new door trim (top & bottoms)

Here's a few progress pictures. The car is almost finished.

Arrival to the "bodyshop"

The Aresenal of supplies:

Time to start disassembling:

Bodywork & Sanding:

Goofball friends in the back welding up the 2ga talon wing holes in the trunk:

No more holes:

Masked for primer:

Applying Primer: (Yes I'm a Patriots fan and proud of it!)

Guidecoat added:

This is the old bumper I customized a couple years back. I was stupid enough to sell this bumper awhile ago and my friend Josh (the owner of this project car) was smart enough to approach the kid I sold this bumper to and bought it back off him to use on this car. So I guess this is somewhat of a reunion between me and my bumper.
I'm happy my friend owns it now. It couldn't have gone to a better place.

Test fitting the bumper and intercooler on the car:

Car's masked up and ready for paint:

Basecoat layed down:

Finished product:

All thats left is to paint the front bumper, eclipse rear centerpiece, mirrors, sideskirts, handles, eclipse turbo wing, assemble it all, and she's ready to go up to maine to recieve the 2.4

Looks good man! I wont paint any more 2g's unless the owner is willing to have all glass removed. I just hate trying to mask and lift those damn rubber trims around the rear quarter windows!

Looks good though,
Anthony
