Thinking of getting a 325i

So we've been thinking about trading in my girlfriends 98' honda prelude for a while but never found anything really worth it, but this weekend we went to a Lithia lot to look at a black, fully loaded 2006 BMW 325i marked at $20k. When we asked for the guys card and told him we'll call him. He walked inside and came out with his boss, and asked if the price was a problem, because they'd be willing to take $15k out the door for it!

What do you guys think? Should we go for it, is it a good deal?

yes its important to test-drive, and have a detailed background check (and not just CarFax!!) on any potential purchase.... in general, any 3 series, especially the last few model years, is awesome. even in base trim, they feel sporty, firm, precise and easy to control. and then there is a sports package....

a 325i wont exactly win you any 1/4 races, but it isnt about 'raw acceleration' by any means. and if its for a lady, then even more so...

however, having said that, of course each used car must be judged subjectively. especially German . maybe this particular one was in accidents, or was simply abused.... the last thing u ever want is a used Bmw with problems and no warranty!!

It has 50k miles on it, and we are driving it this weekend. We have $3k cash for a down plus $5k for her car, we have a friend that wants it. It only comes with a 90 day warranty from the dealership.

The stiffer sports package shouldn't be a problem considering my girlfriend likes the way my Evo drives, and its lowered. Thanks for looking out though. How would I know if it has the sports package?

What a dumb *** comment.

It depends on what you are looking for, the car is heavy and underpowered. If it is a car for your GF then it is a good deal. You ASK if it is a Sports package and there should be a little "sport" button on the gauge cluster, which is for improved throttle response. The car is priced well, almost a little too well...

The trim, aluminum vs wood has nothing to do with the sports package.

It will not have a sport button on the dash, only M cars have a sport button.

Visually, the wheels are the quickest and easiest way to differentiate sport vs non.

Sport package or not, that's a good price on a very good car.

The pictures in the above response dont really help. More than likely the second pic is that of a 335 sedan. Those are the wheels that typically come on the 335. Usually the sport package will get you 17" wheels, a sports leather steering wheel, and then sport seats and suspension.

That price is really low even considering the miles that are on it. If it has 50k miles you are out the BMW Maintenence Program and warranty.

Good luck with it.

gentlemen, please keep this thread from being shut down.

a guy asked an interesting question, if u have knowledge to share, then keep your responses short and to the point. and, calling each other names doesnt exactly answer any questions!

sorry, but, that photo is in fact a pic of a 2006 325i with sports package.

AND, as i stated in my previous post - SPORT PACKAGE included noticeable items such as - wheels, seats and steering wheel: IN DETAIL --

1) Wheels: 17" Double Spoke Light-Alloy (Styling 161) * Includes 17" x 8" front and 17" x 8.5" rear wheels and 155 mph speed limiter. * Tires: P225/45R17 FR & P255/40R17 RR Performance * Includes run-flat tires. Run-flat tires do not come equipped with spare tire.

2) Sport Seats * Includes 8-way power front sport seats with adjustable back bolsters, 2-way manual headrests, thigh support and driver memory for exterior mirror and seat positions.

3) Sport Suspension

4) Sport Steering Wheel * 3-spoke leather-wrapped multi-function sport steering wheel with audio and accessory phone controls if so equipped.

Hence the reason I said "More the likely" as I obviously didnt know where the picture came from. And to be honest, I did list the exact same things but did it quickly at work so I didnt have the time to research and copy and paste the exact specs.
