BMW does it too: http://blogs.edmunds.com/straightlin...es-it-too.html

I believe GM said the weights reduce vibrations at certain speeds.

Here is what I read:

John Fitzpatrick from GM has chimed in with this official answer regarding the weights that have appeared on the brakes of owners taking delivery so far:

Some early Camaro customers noticed that there are weights on the Camaro SS calipers. With high-performance vehicles like the Camaro SS, minor brake noise is not uncommon. The weights act as a damper to reduce noise in certain driving conditions. This was done after careful evaluation and validation by our engineering team. These weights will only be added to early builds of the Camaro SS.
Apparently later builds will have the weights built in to the caliper like the above BMW.

13-16? I'm thinking the V8 gets something like 16/25....which is actually better than a EVO.

Unless the weights negatively effect the functionality of the vehicle, I don't see it as a reason for not buying one. Now if the weights were attached with silly putty and come off every time you turn....that may be a reason.

At this point, I see around 4 reason for buying a Camaro....cool looks, RWD, manual gearbox and 430hp for 30 grand.

People like you are the people that talk smack without knowing what the f*k you are talking about. Please explain me and the forum where in the hell did you get the 13-16mpg figure?

The Camaro V6 powered which by the way it has 304hp and weights close to 3800lbs still gets a respectable 17 city-29mpg hwy. The LS3 powered Camaro(426HP/420LB-TQ) gets a respectable 16mpg/25mpg hwy so.. where did you get the 13-16mpg?

Carlos

while I agree w/ you about the factory MPG, the 16-25mpg is an average that is arrived at by someone trying to get the best numbers out of it. 13-16mpg is probably more realistic for the simple fact you have 400+ hp in a rwd. who wouldn't want to mash that pedal as much as humanly possible.
