The new 2010 vette gets better, quicker...

It is called Gran Sport and is closer to a Z06 that it is to a base model Vette. It can be ordered with an Auto transmission and convertible but it gets all the appeal credit of a Z06.

It gets the Z06 brakes and wide body and even tires and many other things. So far I know of two differences from a real Z06 it doesn't have the aluminium hollow chasis nor the LS7 engine but it is still quicker than the Z51 vette(better braking, better handling also). GM claims sub 4 sec 0-60mph with its revised gear setting.

Had this model be available when I was looking for a Z06 and I would have buy it convertible and auto instead on my Z06. This car seems to have the best of both worlds, the pricetag will tell .

sweet. good find. like the auto option, that way the wife can drive it. plus those autos can handle pretty good power for future bolt ons. nice carlos.

It had to happen to create separation between the SS Camaro...Also the Z28 option, if it ever makes it to market, will push the base Vette too much

I am guessing that Gran Sport got to be at least 60gs base price. Couldn't find the price anywhere but that is my guess.

Chevy has really stepped up their game with the cars that IMO made them stand out back in the day. A base Vette with 430hp on up to the spine crushing ZR1, and now the SS Camaro. I hope it's not to late for them.

This just makes the Z06s, and ZR1s even, less exclusive.. I wish GM would just make the Z06 + ZR1,and not produce the regular C6s at all..

Some of the same things I heard before I bought my Evo from many who'd only seen them in passing. Surprisingly, it turned out to be a fun car. Some here may agree.

But the whole premise behind the 'Vette for the last 50+ years has been a sports car that the working man can attain. That is what makes the 'Vette special. The guy making $30k/year will never be able to afford a new Z06 or ZR1, but if he saves his pennies, he can still get a RWD/3200lb/exotic looking/V8 sports car that performs as good or better than many other cars costing $75k+.

As far as exclusivity, this car kinda rivals the Z06, but the Z06 is now 4-5 model years old so it has already lost some of its exclusivity.

Everyone Vette owner always wants their vette to the best, but GM is a company and is evolving to produce a better more sought after product. This Vette emulates what the community has been asking for a targa, auto, with awesome Z06 looks!!!

For people like me I love the Z06 for what it is and for the future C6 owners they are getting a great car with the Gran Sport.
