Looks good to me any info on the engine?also looks like you can get a wheel with a nice 4in lip or bigger without cutting the body or a widebody kit

I never thought I'd want a Cadillac, but that new CTS-V is powerful and sexy.

I don't understand the bean counters influence over what gets made and what doesn't. Look at that new Dodge Challenger. Uber-sexy outside with the interior of a 300C. WHo makes those kinds of decisions? No wonder Detroit is going bankrupt.
In my experience, the big 3 and the American branches of the Japanese makers are driven by focus groups, both internal and external. And, to a lesser degree, by what dealers give as feedback. You will never find a focus group representative of the entire car buying populace, so some things will never get picked up. If you use 100 BMW 3 series drivers as a focus group for a midsize sedan, it'll end up feeling like a knockoff BMW.

Focus groups almost always prefer cars:

1) That are bigger
2) That have more horsepower
3) That have more "features"

Even if none of these things improves the car.

Bean counters don't show up until later, and it's usually directed at cost reduction to ensure the product is profitable. Unfortunately, because of the way most of the companies are structured, it's the bean counters who end up in the higher tiers of the company, and the bean counters don't want to try something until someone else proves it can be done.

Turbo I-5 is correct, but it's FWD. There has never been an AWD Focus street car.

I think the Volvo C30R is very similar to it too.

From Motortrend review:

"We squeeze the aluminum throttle pedal and the engine takes a giant lungful, hurling us under the impulsion of the 305-hp, 2.5L five-cylinder motor's 325 lb-ft of torque, available with little lag from well below 3000 rpm. The limited-slip differential does its job of keeping both tires biting, and the patented front suspension geometry suppresses the torque steer. The little Focus just careers out of the bend with startling fairground-ride physicality. As the revs climb to the sound of an intense five-cylinder thrum we grab the next gear and loose off an explosion of waste-gate flutter. Honestly the way it gets its power down, you could almost swear there's AWD at work here."

very sexy car....looks badass, but i think you'd have to be crazy to trade an EVO for it. EVO IX or X would eat that car's *** alive. i couldn't see going from a car that does 0-60 in 4.5 or less to one that does it in 5.9...no thanks. does look good though.

the seats are nice, but the rest of the interior (dash, wheel, gagues, pedals, buttons, etc) still look a little too Fordsy for me.

This car is what a Mazdaspeed3 couldn't dream. Its an inline five with decent potential. They have the tooling to make this car AWD. That would be something worth switching sides for, IMO.

At the very least, even if Ford doesn't bring this over, we still need more 2 door performance hatch options. Particularly since GTIs have habit of falling apart and/or exploding.

If it was AWD and sold in America, I'd defiantly buy one. Even with the FWD, if it puts down the power like I've been hearing, I'd still buy it. BUT atleast with AWD or RWD, if you do end up modding and have the power to break the tires loose, on corner exit, AWD and RWD will almost always oversteer out. FWD will always understeer out if modded with enough power, which would be the #1 drawback.

Ford needs to make it AWD and availabl in America. I think they'd be VERY suprised with the sales. I'll take one in black

The Mazdaspeed 3 is a 4 cylinder and the RS is a 5 cylinder. If that is you definition of detuned so be it, but its a totally different car.

Stock for stock, you can't say that until someone actually tests them. I agree though that the EVO will be faster from 0 to 60, but being a 5 cylinder this car has loads of torque and mid range power. I would like to see them compared on a test track.

I don't even see the point in pointing out how "Fordsy" the interior on the RS is being all three generations of the EVO we have came with cheap looking interior.

I agree and I would have no issues buying this car if it was FWD or AWD. I just wouldn't buy it if it FWD and cost as much as a EVO X or STI. I would pay high 20's for it though being FWD.

The point of this car isn't to mod it for power, it already has plenty, especially for it's weight. The point is you either race it in a stock class with slicks, or you mod the hell out of the suspension. Also, while a FWD car will understeer out of a corner when under power, this can be mananged with LSD and driver talent.
