I was pretty sure by law that they ruined the motor. Someone who knows a lot of people that work at the nearby Audi dealer said they run the motor at full speed with no oil in it until it seizes (cheap way to junk the motor).

They are just trying to bring people into the dealer. They are not actually selling the clunkers. They might have a good selection of older Pre-owned cars but they where not taken in using the Government program. Advertising is design to bring people into the showroom and thats where the selling begins.

they have to destroy them, they put something in the engines that freezes the internals and they are done... scrap

sure theyre selling the clunkers, or just some used cars and theyre using the name as an advertising ploy?

The cars are not junked only the drivetrain... Dealership were given a chemical to put in the motor and then run until the motor locked up! I just talked to a service manager yesterday about it...

weve been destroying them for a bit now at the dealer i work at, kinda fun. rest of the car goes to scrap yards that will then strip them of any usefull parts the scrap the rest. its kinda sad seeing some older caddies and other semi nice vehicles in good condition bound for the highway in the sky, but, i guess it worked out for them.

I went with my friend to get his old car and trade in for newer one... He owns like really old school toyota. Nothing special... I believe they gave him 3500 for it. But the deal was it had to be 18mpg or less... lol.

They're just using the term to draw people in.
