08/09 GR STI (hatch)

Are any of you guys thinking of getting these? I know there's been a couple threads but I wanna revive the topic now that the car's been out for longer. Gone are the days where an evo and an sti are even mentioned in the same breath, but I seriously love the current gen STI. I'm really considering getting one as a daily, and turning my IX into a complete track car, and having some fun with the STI.

Only thing that bothers me is the lack of rear legroom! What do you think??

Do you sit in the back while you drive?

My friend has a 08 STI. It's very nice and has alot of head, leg, and trunk space. It drives differently from the Evo with a ton of personality (boxer rumble and so on). It's considerably more refined then the previous years STI's. The AWD transmission was also designed by Porsche and not like the FWD converted to AWD of the Evo. It also has AVCS on both the intake and exhaust side, which helps it make more hp and tq that all previous years.

You can't lose by owning both an Evo and STI.

I don't sit in the back, but if it's my daily I also expect to be making long trips with friends every once in a while etc

If you like the way it looks, if you like sitting in it, and if you like the way it drives, then why not?

Only problem is that you are getting a car that is very similar to what you currently have, 35k is a lot of money, and there are a lot of nice cars you can buy for that price or under that can be used as daily driver. It may also bite you with mod bug which can put a lot of pressure on your wallet. A lot of the times where people buy two high performing, mod friendly cars and decide they'll use one as daily, they end up modding both.

IMO you will have more benefit by getting something on another end of spectrums, such as high mileage econo hatch, a van, a truck, a large sedan, and you may appreciate the evo even more, as well as getting all the utility out of your second car. Or RWD performance car is another thing you may consider as well.

ive sat in the back of the last two body styles - the 07 and back are tight in the back (im 5 10) and the 08 had plenty of leg room, even a bit more than the evo.
