My Thoughts on the WRX

First off I'm a very impatient person. So, I'm not sure I can wait for the EVO and I'm not sure if I want to pay 30k for a car.

I was thinking of purchasing a WRX. My plan was to save some money and still have a fast AWD car. But to even make the car acceptable by EVO standards, I would have to dump about 4k into it. Wheels/Tires, body kit/nice STI type wing, headlight conversion and a stage 1 upgrade(about 265hp).

Plus, I test drove one today and damn that interoir is so cheap and the car is really tame under 4000 rpms. But after 4k it takes off, very fast, and it's really easy to drive.

So, what I decided is I'm gonna have to stick it out for the EVO. I'll get all the stuff that I would have to get for the WRX right off the lot. And I'll only have to pay a couple of grand more and have warranty, plus a much better looking and performing vehicle.

You know the interior is crappy too in an evo, same interior as a $13k Lancer es. Don't expect luxury in either vehicle. Who knows what the hp numbers will be for the evo here either. You know it won't come with the recaros, brembos, or any of that fancy electronic stuff. You mean you'd actually keep the evo stock? that seems to be such a waste

i really was interested in a WRX but it was just out of my price range. Never been inside of one but the front end and the hoodscoop is to die for.

No way would I keep the EVO stock. But what I'm saying is in comparison to the EVO. The WRX mods would have to be done immediately, with possibly the exception of the stage 1 kit, to be acceptable to me, in appearance at least.

At least with the EVO I could afford to wait a little while before making any modifications, and most of those would be for perormance.

im so surprised to hear what B said from a subi owner.....i mean, dont get me wrong, i think the WRX is nice, but the evo, when it comes over by the way B tapper, will have the recaros and if something drastic happens very soon, id say it will come withe brembos also.....the evo interior is cheap but not even close to as cheap as the WRX, the evo's steering wheel is awesome, gauges look exquisite, and the recaros are to die for, other than that, it is the same as the OZ's interior.....the speed is a whole nother story, the EVO will smoke the WRX even detuned, no doubt about it, as soon as i get some evidence, ill post it.

You won't get recaros...americans can't fit their fat asses in them. The evo 7 and the wrx ARE NOT COMPETITORS!

The evo 7 and the STi wrx are competitors

Doesn't matter to me, I can't afford either. Plus the previous generations looked better for both

What's with Subaru and their trannies? I even remember an SCC project Impreza where they lost either 2nd or 3rd gear...

That is the 2.5RS manual that is junk and breaks 2nd easily...the wrx manual is much more reliable. The 6spd in the STi is a work of art
