Audi R8 E-tron

I have to ask - what's the point of a high performance electric car, at least in this stage of development? Say you take it to a track, like you would for a high performance car - it's limited to 124 mph, wears out the battery hella fast when you drive it hard, and then you have to wait at least 3 hours while it charges before you can drive it on the track again, and even longer if you want to drive it for a longer period of time..

Seems pointless to me.

I mean my point is - with any electric sports car.. You drive the way it should be driven, and it'll die real quick and take a real long time to charge back up.. doesn't make sense to me.
