Deal breakers

What features and/or options would stop you from buying a given car?

These work, or rather don't work, for me:

A Bose stereo - no way, no how would I buy a car with a Bose system
Exterior paint - black or any shade of brown - automatic deal breaker
A preponderance of interior/exterior badges and/or decals - the new STi has 22 of them, no thanks
Plastic trim taped to the body - didn't even consider a MR (in part) due to its VG

Folks always talk about featured that can make a sale. I thought it would be fun to approach the concept from another direction. What are your deal breakers?

lol whats wrong with a Bose system? My dad has one on his FX and its nice!!
But i hate:
1. any car with the vertical cliff looking dashboards found on mustangs, and other Domestics.
2. Hubcaps!!
3. Drum brakes!
There some others but i cant really think about them right now.

typically depends on what the car is for, butttt..

needs auto up windows
needs decent rear leg room (35" +)
needs around 300hp minimum
reliable
built in navigation system

Similarly, one could ask what's wrong with drum brakes on the rear of a light car? It's not like drums make an appreciable difference on the street over disks in that application.

To answer your question, I wouldn't buy a car with a Bose system for a couple of reasons. One, is the atrocious sound quality. The stock system in the Evo, criticized by many, survives by concentrating on sins of omission. It doesn't try to reproduce something that it can't, and as such, it's relatively easy to listen to while the mind fills-in the blanks.

OTOH, Bose creates a system that hinges on sins of commission. Instead of higher-rez gear that's transparent enough to allow the detail, etc on a recording to come through unscathed, Bose tries to create a similar environment by adding distortion and heavy EQ. It's almost like he difference between quality and quantity. To add insult to injury, Bose systems are notoriously more difficult to upgrade. Ultimately, it's a matter of priories and individual expectations....

-Vertical headlight (I'm looking at you Nissan)
-Altezza's (Huge deal breaker if they can't be replaced; Personally don't see why evo X guys are happy that they ditched the all red tails for blacked out ralliart altezzas)
- Auto
- Multi pieced radios (Mazda is an example where the radio and its display are separate)
- Minimal aftermarket options as far as modifications go. Performance and look wise.
