Thumbs up 1997 gsx

(Hope this is the right section)

This is my baby, I had an auto gst as my first car but I always wanted a gsx. Last year the week before my birthday, I found the color, trans, and drivetrain I wanted (I was out of state vacationing and found it there ). A white 5 spd gsx. It's going to get an evo 3 16g, with all of the supporting mods, and to be a reliable dd. By this summer I hope to purchase an Evo

Current mods
------------------------
HKS Carbon-ti Catback (just getting broken in)
Rotora Slotted Rotors
EBC RedStuff pads
RRE SS braided brake lines
Ground Control coilovers
Koni Yellow Shocks
Prothane Motor mounts
Injen intake w/K&N filter
Saikou Michi dual catch can
Black interior conversion-working on recarpeting with black, changed dash, console etc
17" Konig bumps
Prosport boost + oil pressure gauges
B&M short shifter
Red LED's to replace factory "Amber" lighting. Instrument panel etc

Enjoy.

When carbonfiberhoods.net decides to replace my damaged hood, it will look like this

This is unedited believe it or not.

Clean as ****. I am swapping my 98 gsx to black carpet too. And more than likely changing to Sparcos or evo seats.

Paint your center tail to match tho. Makes a world of difference.

thanks, appreciate it. right after the carpet I'm going to some all black corbeau FX1's. Are you gonna use regular carpet and try to mold it yourself or buy a "pre molded" replacement. Home depot of all places has thee best black carpet for a car IMO. I used it to recarpet the hatch and it looks amazing. I need to get a picture of that. I would like to use that carpet for the car as well but I don't how difficult it will be. It will only cost about $20 in carpet tho. Worth a try I guess

Please send me pics. mytbouf21@gmail.com

I prolly will buy premolded for the hatch and cabin. I will also get the heavy matte for the bottom to supress interior noise. I want the car to be comfortable yet fast.

Thanks! Ya I have been a fan since I was 9 and saw them in 1999. My tastes in appearance preferences have changed since then (obviously we can all picture a 10 year old's "dream" car) but I've still wanted one since then none the less.

I will send you some pics as well as post them up here tomorrow. I just finished getting the grey plastic in the back painted black so it looks pretty sweet. The hatch carpet was EXTREMELY easy. Take the "carpet" out if you wanna even call it that. Traced it was a razor on the new carpet and bam done. Took me 10 minutes max with perfect fitment, even matches the factory black carpeted 6 cd changer.

That's funny you mentioned painting the center tail. I've been meaning to do that recently but I'm wondering if I should do it or have a body shop spray it to match. I have an extra center tail and everything just haven't followed through.

Did you dye the plastic or what? I am thinking about soing this to my interior. I have the nice two two black grey. I want all black, with red seats i think. The hatch carpet is easy but the front is much different. If you have never taken it out, there is a ****load of curves and folds. I would suggest getting premolded.

Ya the front is much more...interesting. I will likely try the home depot carpet because I like the texture and quality of the carpet and it won't cost a whole lot if it fails.

For the plastic I used a semi-gloss enamel that matches almost perfectly, with valspar clear plastic primer. Came out great. I've done the glove box, piece adjacent to that, all of the hatch pieces, and side center console pieces and they all match the oem black. best part is all the parts that don't come black, don't get touched/messed with for the most part so hopefully they stay black forever.

Hmm. Interesting. I will have to try it out. I want to have basically an all black interior, but i need to get some type of accent color in there. I wish i could PC my plastic the cherry red of my engine ****.

Oh btw, get a lip. Makes the car so much more aggressive. I am throwing on a 20g with all the supporting **** in a few weeks and prolly will just work on cleanup and what not for the rest of its life. MY car only has 58k with a 6bolt with 10k on it. It has plenty of life left in the car. No rust too!

I plan on going all black, with my red LED instrument panel, HVAC, a red stitched shift boot/knob, and make some black mats with red stitching and maybe Eclipse embroidered like the factory mats but in red.

Nice, I have a lip I made on it that I just put on, you can kinda see it in the 1st picture. It looks great in person tho. I was lucky to find this one with 70k on the original 7bolt. No problems at all.
