From Evo X to S4****pics inside!
Since you asked: audi has a long and colorful history of building terrific cars! And twice as long of a rep for having mechanical/electrical gremlins, massive depreciation and polarizing dealership experiences.
well, since your probably used to polarizing dealership experiences from the Evo, only two things to worry about now!

I like the looks but too fat for my liking. I went the other way: S4 -> Evo.
Enjoy the car though. Not sure if they've made progress on the B8 S4's, but look into EPL Tuning-- they're the best out there. APR is a big name but doesn't necessarily have the best stuff.

i hate comparing $30k cars to $60k cars... such comparos are just silly, without much depth, and the results are boringly predictable. wh
but, as far as an objective view of these 2 similar, yet very different models, i will say this (from extensive personal experience with audis) - amazingly enough you may end up with more issues/problems/dealer visits in the audi, then you would in a mitsu... though there is no comparing how you are treated/taken care of at the audi dealership, vs. any mitsu dealer....

Either pick a MSRP price for both or pick the detailed equipment on each car so that we can make an accurate comparisson.
His Evo X starts at $33,590 but he has at least the (SSS package) which is $1999 plus tax and registration= $36334

On the other hand the S4 starts at $45,900 plus wahetever option you might add. At the end of the day, the Audi already starts vastly more equiped than the Evo X bone stock so the price difference shrinks.

Lets put the cars in the same baskets and tell all the equipment and do a fair comparo or lets just not speculate and throw some absurd numbers like $30000 Evo X and $60000 for the Audi S4.
By the way, Audi has a European delivery which can save you the tax sales, Mitsubishi doesn't even have that.
