Bugatti's 268mph Veyron Super Sport!
267.856mph – let’s call it 268mph. Bugatti has announced the arrival of the Veyron Super Sport in suitable fashion – by taking it to VW’s Ehra-Lessien test track and reclaiming the world’s fastest production car record.
Driven by test driver Pierre-Henri Raphanel, the Super Sport hit 265.905mph in one direction, then 269.806mph in the other to comfortably claim the title from America’s 256.14mph SSC Ultimate Aero TT.
Powered by a development of the 8.0-litre quad-turbo V16, the Super Sport boasts 1183bhp and 1106lb ft of torque – gains of 183bhp and 184lb ft over the 253mph standard car. This has been achieved through the use of bigger turbos and larger intercoolers, while the suspension and bodywork have also been modified.
Will anything come along to better the mega Bug? SSC is suspected to be working on a higher performance version of the Aero, while Hennessey is now claiming its 1200bhp Exige-based Venom will be capable of 272mph. For the meantime, though, Bugatti can rest on its laurels.

Fugly. The "standard" Veyron's looks took a while to grow on me but I don't think this one ever will.
All this top speed nutswinging is getting ridiculous. At the end of the day, who cares? It's just so the Billionaires can sit at the dinner table and spit this number to others, even though they know very little else about the car and have no real appreciation for it. I've seen a couple interviews with Veyron owners (on MTV Cribs and VH1's Fabulous life) and both owners got 3 of their 4 facts wrong-- purchase price was the only correct one.

Anyway, I love it more than I'll probably love my first child.
Honestly dude, you're watching MTV Cribs and VH1's Fabulous life (whatever that is) so of course the people interviewed are going to be talentless douchebag morons. There are people like F1 driver Jenson Button who own a veyron, or Jay Leno, or a number of other passionate car buffs who have real appreciation for the car.
Anyway, I love it more than I'll probably love my first child.

Have Jenson Button or Jay Leno ever gotten over 200mph? 185mph? Doubtful. It's a car to boost egos and swing nuts.
Would I love one? Of course (but not this fugly one). Is it a toal overkill of a car? Absolutely.
I don't know any Veyron owners. What does that prove?
At first you said it's a car owned by MTV Cribs and VH1-something people that don't appreciate it. Now this? It seems like you're just upset the car exists because it's not being used to your taste.
This thread is just pointing out the introduction of this remarkable car. No one is arguing what the owners do with the car or who knows more owners and I see why: it's irrelevant.
Anyway I'm glad you admit you'd love to own one. I think we all would.
