/facepalm
I spoke, well tried to, with one of the Chinese car companies a few years ago. They came to NAIAS with a carbon clone of the old Mitsu SUV. Paint was so bad it felt like sand paper. One of their other cars had rust bubbles. And they did not bring any English speaking personelle.

There are a ton of same platform and clone manufacturing happening in the entire automotive sector. It has been there for a long time and it won't end anytime soon. I wouldn't say it's cloning as much as it is rebadging. They are using Mitsubishi parts and just placing some lower quality components and thier badges on the vehicles.

That's what I was thinking. It looks more like a badge engineered car than it does a clone/rip-off. A quick seach shows that this car company has long standing ties and an on/off partnership with Mitsubishi. They're probably just buying 90% completed cars from Mitsu at a discount then putting their own finishing touches and branding on the car.
