SUV Intake
SUV Intake
Can anyone recommend or provide information on aftermarket Intake systems for SUV's, more specifically, a 2000 GMC Jimmy? Either general pros and cons, or specific product names with reviews would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah any help would be appreciated. I was trying to find some tuning options for my friends Acura MDX. I think that you whould look at the TNN website under the show called TRUCKS! i think that they have some sponsors there that offer tuning options. Also I saw a commercial not long ago for something called a power programmer, but to be honest it looked like crap. I also think that there was a company called Hyper-Tech that offered tuning options for trucks. Clearly, a turbo truck will have more room to tune than a NA engine. What you really want is a method of chipping the truck, or a new ECU. That wil get you a lot more power, but the big american engines all see to be under performers IMHO. I think that your best bet would be something like the S-AFCII, but I don;t know how well that reacts with factory ECU. Good luck.
Oh come on Doug, haven't you and I already had this conversation? Remember you're looking for an intake for a non-Vortec motor (unlike my 'rents Jimmy)
Take a peek under your hood since this is the bad boy you'll most likely end up getting. I'll take pics of our motor and give you a peek at what the Vortec looks like as opposed to yours.

i've always felt that K&N were the top producer of filtration materials and systems. i buy K&N oil filters, and my intake is a cheap (it was cheap, but damned effective) copy of a K&N product

you're sounding like a newb, doug
i'm too lazy to read the SEMA stuff, but as far as i know, as long as the dealer can't point at it and say "that directly caused a problem", you should be ok
