Interesting new motor offering from BMW. Look like it will go into their "28i" models.

That's twin scroll, not twin turbo. Fixed the title for you.

Looks cool. I would say the car it comes in will be more important. My parents impala is kind of fast actually, but it's a piece of crap. I know some bmw's are lack luster.

looks to be a very small turbo, full power is super quick...350nm(~258tq) at 1250rpms lol looks like it falls on it face though as it seems kinda slow for the power it makes

Looks like it was designed for max low-end and mid-range; it has a 84mm bore and 90mm stroke implying the desire for torque down low.

"slow...fast...low end, high end"... im pretty sure bmw didnt design the 2.0L turbo engine for drag racing... guys wake up, they also offer the 300+hp mill as well as the V8 in the M3 if all you're looking for is stop-light thrills.
this base engine is for economy purposes only, for those who want the 3 series but cant afford the current 328i with its V6, and do not like its 18mpg
10 out of 10 buyers of the 328i, do not even know what "0-60" refers to

The 328i isn't a V6, their six cylinder engines are inline. This new turbo 4 is basically an N54 with two cylinders cut off. It should smoke the N52 inline six in all things performance.

Yeah, I'm with you on this one. This isn't blowing me away. A lot of companies have developed 2.0L turbocharged engines to save gas and your wallet. I find myself asking: "So what?"

of course it is. sorry. mispoke

as far as performance, all i was saying is that irregardless (yes, thats actually a word now) of the performance of the new T2.0L, its purpose is not drag racing. it is economy, without sacrifice

This is no more and no less that an under achiever. This is a poor automotive BMW propaganda way too late in the market. Too bad that they even dared to mention the "FSI motor" mounted on Audi and VW, yeah, no $-hit.. what about the 2.0 liters from the Audi TTS? that is a 2 liter and puts 265hp, why no mentioning that engine since it is also a 2 liter rom Audi?

Why not to mention a 2 liter turbo from Mitusbishi or a ecotec from Pontiac(solstice) Saturn Sky/Cobalts?

Don't call me a hater, I alreday owned a new 335i new back in March 2007 so I like BMWs but this model with the 245 HP is absolutely dead meat. Soo many car manufacturers in the mid 80's from Europe with no valvetronic or direct injection already making more power with similar displacement.

This car is simply dead meat on this superagressive market.
