2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

This is from an article about the Chicago Auto Show and unfortunately for some reason I could not pull the pictures over.... my bad

"2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
Chevrolet revived an old nameplate here Chicago by unveiling the 2012 Camaro ZL1 coupe. Powered by the Cadillac CTS-V's LSA 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, which will churn out at least 550 horsepower, the ZL1 should be good for a zero-to-60-mph romp of around four seconds. Performance parts will include a heavy-duty limited-slip differential, Magnetic Ride Control suspension and 14-inch Brembo brakes. Exterior modifications include an aluminum hood with a carbon-fiber insert, a rear diffuser and a unique front fascia and splitter. The ZL1 will go on sale early next year and will cost just over $50,000.

My question is, will this be the Z28 or will there be another more powerful version of the Camaro released under the Z28 title which I'm guessing will be very expensive in the near future?

Z28 will probably be a 302 BOSS fighter.

Z28 in the past was a car that was track ready, one that could handle and be fast too.

You are right about that, and that does make perfect sense. I don't know why I was expecting the Z28 to be more about horse power and have only decent track performance numbers when the original Z28 was basically a track package type of car in the first place

This sounds cool, I really like the cts-v with that motor. What I would love to see is chevy make a limited run of camaros and/or corvettes with tuned duramax's, i think that would be sooo bad a$$..

I dc I would personally still like a GT500. Love the LSA motor but not the camaro body.

I like the GT500 too but I don't know what I would pick if I had to choose between the two. I wonder if MotorTrend is going to do a comparison of them again.

GT500 is the better car for people that like to modify the cars. The LSA still uses cast hyper-crap pistons. Yuck.

Really? I didn't know that. Granted I really haven't looked into it much but that's good to know.

Yeah the GT500 has forged piston but so does the 6.2 suparcharged LS engine that is in the cadillac and soon going to be in the ZL1. All the forced induction high horsepower engines that ford and gm puts out are forged internals.

No, the LS9 uses forged piston, but the LSA does not. The LSA uses Hyper pistons, ie LSA PISTONS ARE NOT FORGED

The gt500 motors will take 800whp all day as long as you don't bump the rev limiter, and 1000whp has been made on a stock motor.
