Would you still buy an Evo if......

Lets say the Evo didnt have AWD. If the price was about $30k or less for the Evo X.....would you still buy it or look at a different car? We can say the car would be FWD, same engine, brakes...etc. Does AWD matter alot to you?

I would never buy a performance car that was FWD. RWD maybe but I prefer AWD. Then again a cheaper version of the EVO X in RWD is basically the genesis coupe (granted there more differences than just the drivetrain, but a lot of similarities).

The only reason I bought the X over say the Lotus', S2k, or the NSX was because I can't use any of those in the snow to get to work. It doesn't snow much here, but our city is extremely slow to respond and it just piles up. If we don't make it in to work, we don't get paid for snow days

yes, it def matters. AWD and MAYBE RWD, but NEVER FWD. I look at FWD as completely inferior and useless

If RWD? No. If FWD? Hell no.

A FWD drive Evo would just be another souped-up Lancer, and a RWD Evo would just be another JUN-esque frankenstein drift monster.. neither of which are bad, for what they are I suppose.. but neither are at all in-line with the 20-year rally heritage that has been the AWD Evolutions I through X.

But all things considered, if the Evo wasn't AWD, I'd have bought an STi.. and if the STi wasn't AWD, I'd have probably bought a Mustang GT or Camaro SS.. or maybe even a Ford Raptor or something, lol.

Just my opinion, though

Never a FWD car. I'd only buy a RWD or AWD, but AWD is the way to go!

Pretty ridiculous question man. AWD is central to the Evo's performance and a key part of it's rally heritage. It's like asking, if the Evo only had 50 HP and weighed 4000lbs and had three wheels, would you buy it?

the evo is known for its razor-edge handling; it gets a lot of its handling from the intelligent AWD system. any evo-enthusiast would definitely say no to your question, including me.

Me neither, the biggest appeal to me was the awd. If it weren't for that, I'd maybe look harder at old M3's or something. I am excited for winter.

The EVO being AWD is one factor that helped me picked it over a 370Z.

It snows here too much. The AWD was so I could have a daily driver. If I SOLELY wanted a fun car I'd buy RWD (which I also have). This is fun/practical.
