It looks.......exactly like the 997.

Oh wait, no, they made the tail lights a touch smaller.

Porsche sure is consistent

996 is my favorite generation. They actually changed the head lights a tiny bit.

I am not going to argue with you because I respect personal opinions but I think you are a bit confused, the 996 is by a long shot the most voted as the ugliest modern 911s.
You probably meant to say that your prefer body style is the 911(993), 911 (997) or the 911(998) because the 996 I insist is the less valued porsche in the market due to it uglyness. Just my .2c

Take a look at all the 911 line up the reply to me. I am formerly owner of a 911(964) Cariolet Carrera 4.

I'm not confused, the 996 (yes, the one with the headlights stretched over the hood) is my favorite, with the 993 as a close second. And if you go by what the market values cars at as your measure of a car's worth that's just sad and ends up being very wrong in the long run. Very recently the market didn't value Ferrari 250, early Mustangs or muscle cars. A few companies like Barrett Jackson (established in 1971) have the potential to completely change a car's value very quickly.

Think for yourself.

I'm a big fan of the 996 even though it strayed away from the traditional round headlight design of previous & later body styles. I kinda like the look of the non-round squashed Beetle look. Yes, they are worth less than 993's, 997's, but I think that can be attributed mostly to the HUGE numbers sold of that model year. The market is simply over flooded with them. Too much supply & less demand will always drive down prices. Ugly or not, Porsche sold the **** out of that body style! The 997 I like better for the technology the 996 doesn't have, but you gotta admit the 996 is every bit as worthy to be respected from a performance aspect as any other generation of the 911's..

I'm not too hot about this latest restyle.. I'll wait till I read in-depth reviews for a final ruling, but on the surface, my first impression is that Porsche is starting to tinker.

I understand... Take a look at any ciurrent market in any part of the world. A 993 still sell for more than a 996, even a more square front looking 964 is valued at similar 996 from 1999 to 2000.

I personally test drove the 2002 model which was a higher better than the 99-2001 and I was surprised with the good performance but I am only speaking for the looks. The 996 is still less favorable than a 993 with the exception of a 993 TT or maybe a C4S.

Like I told you, I wasn't going to penalized you for expressing your personal opinions. The stats are on my favor, a 996 loses a lot of votes mainly because of the appeal and for diviating from a true round light but don't worry, the first Boxters are the same way.

Between me and you, I still think that a 996 does loops around a older 911,964 or 993 as far is pure performance. You can get a 996 for around $20000 flat to low 20s(smoking deal).

I wish they had a street version of the GT3 RSR with the wide fender flares.
