The 2012 Chevy Camaro ZL1
They can make the same power with less CCs, no need for a huge motor. That is why they don't make huge blocks. You should trade your evo for a boss I am sure you will love its "creature comforts". Especially with such a bargain of a price tag. 60k is it? Why not just get an M3 if you are going to spend that kind of cash?
And you're wrong about the ZL1 only being faster in a straight line. It's faster around the Nurburgring than the M3 GTS, so it would certainly be faster than a regular M3.
Evom is usually pretty cool with other cars, but I've seen a lot of people trotting out old domestic stereotypes in this thread that aren't true anymore. Old habits die hard?
). I do agree that the M3's interior is nicer, but coming from a my Evo, I'd gladly take the interior quality of the Camaro and Mustang
Have you seen the inside of the cars you're talking about? When I sat in a Boss, I wasn't blown away by the quality of the interior, but it was definitely better than my Evo.

Lest the Evo guys think that their Japanese awesomeness rules over the Camaro, at 3,585 pounds, the Evo X is hardly lithe and svelte. This is a trend that plagues Japanese cars as well. Look how heavy the GT-R is. My hope is that future American and Japanese performance cars will reduce their size and weight to improve handling, performance and fuel economy.
I don't see why you brought interiors into this at all considering my original comment and the whole thread has been about how this and comparable cars perform. Since you pointed it out, I just stated that if I can live with a car with a worse interior, Evo as my example, then the Camaro or Mustang wouldn't be too bad.
but the camaro zl1 (the one we are discussing here, and the one whose performance is comparable to an Evo) is almost twice the price of an evo.
I'll give you that the interior should be better for what you are paying, but sometimes performance>interior. People that are going to buy a ZL1 are going to get it for what it can do. That thing it can do just happens to be **** on cars like the M3.

and Ring times, well since when is that relevant to most potential buyers? its a great accomplishment for the factory overall, and makes for nice tv ads. but which applies more to you, 'ring time, or figure 8 ?
you can have 580hp, or 5800hp. the Q is how much of it can you put down

A potential buyer of this car either wants something great on a track(Ring times would be relevant) or they want something fast in a straight line(0-60 and 1/4 mile times). The ZL1 is fast in both categories.
11 second car with just drag radials. Both the manual and the automatics ran 11.9's. Engine sounds pretty amazing. Too bad they drown it out with mullet-rock.

...the only way to have a meaningful comparison of different cars, is to compare the stock versions, no ?
its like saying, an evo is a 12 second car, with just bolt-ons
