Hello everyone, im the proud owner of a 3g eclipse. Unfortunately my car's performance potential went south after the 2gs, and im looking to swap in a new engine. I've looked into vr4's but the swap is almost 12g, an evo engine would fit in nicely and will cost much less, however im having allot of trouble finding a salvegable engine. does anyone know where i could find a engine and tranny? also is there a difference between the a-spec and foreign evo engines and trannys? i've heard theres a difference of about 10 hp/lb torque, and that the foreign evo's are 6 spd, not 5. If anyone could give me this information it would be much appreciated.

Are you aware the Evo engine is mounted 180 degrees from the 1g and 2g's. What are you planning you do about the transfer case?

1) i know the engine is mounted different, thats not a issue, it can be done, and rather easily. Hell, i can fit a VR4 in there for 2grand more and a couple custom parts.
2) This isn't just me, there are allot of people out there looking for this kind of swap.

 

why don't you just get a G63 from a 2G eclipse instead? same freaking engine
