Whether you love it or hate it, the Mazda MX-5 will go down as one of the iconic cars of its time.

NA (1989-1999)
NB (1998-2005)
NC (2005-present)


So what's your favorite flavor? For me, I've always liked the NB body style best, but the NC has started to grow on me within the last year.

With Mazda's focus on reducing weight, it will be interesting to see how the next generation turns out.

 

As an owner of a 1993 model, well, I like it best.


Other than the fun to drive factor of this car, it is so cheap to own and insure. Obviously paid for, my Miata is a summer top down car. As an ex Pro SM competitor, I have some SM parts on the street car that make it funnerer.


The chassis is a Florida car so no salt has ruined it, but it is a bit flexible, and I added some x bracing and supports to help it along.


Light, tossable, and here is the weird part. Last year I had more people comment or actually ASK me what kind of car is that! When I told them it was a 20 year old Mazda, they dumped a load.


I have considered getting something newer like an S2000, but why bother as the Miata is really my third car? I am not really a convertible guy, as the noise on a long trip has ruined my hearing, and too much sun is not really a good idea....plus the flex....but if I sold it, I would get a breez or freez I suppose - used of course as the resale is poor - and skip the convertible part.
