A twin-turbo Ferrari?
A twin-turbo Ferrari?
Ferrari’s next-generation California is here, following nearly two years of advance notice, and it’s clear the brand’s entry-level convertible has been through the wringer. For 2015, the California gets an all-new twin-turbocharged V-8 engine, new bodywork, and a fresh interior. We already knew about the force-fed mill, as well as Ferrari’s intention to have the California hit 200 mph, and the good news is that both prophecies appear to have played out in the production car.
The big news is that, taken as a whole, the thing is a whole heck of a lot manlier-looking than the outgoing model, which started life more or less as the boulevardier of the Ferrari family. The California did get a rather successful infusion of sportiness for 2013, but it still clearly anchored Ferrari’s lineup from the bottom. We’ll be bringing you full information soon, but in the meantime, feast your eyes on the latest scorcher from Maranello.

They had a mock up running around for a while and you could clearly hear it was turbocharged so I guess they finally pulled the trigger.
I personally would love to see this powertrain in a "new age" F40. Take the 458 Italia (which was designed with a lot of elements of the F40), strip it down further, add a funcional high plane wing and call it a day.

"extraordinary, alive, a stunner, the most desirable power train of any super car, the way it revs, the noise it makes and the gear shift are the best of the best, it is a truly great car, in many ways more satisfying than the F40"
This makes no sense at all.
Of all the cars I've ever driven, the only ones I could say I genuinely hated were rental cars with really awful interiors.
Disappointed? Maybe I could see that if, say, the F40 was the benchmark. Or the McLaren F1. But hated? That seems like a stretch.
