so, anodizing your intercooler black will be best option?

Hmmm interesting....Supposedly they make "radiator paint" which is thinner than normal spraypaint since if its thicker it will affect how much air can flow through the fins and affect the heat dissipation and act as an insulator (from how I see it)....I wonder if there is a difference from using the thinner paint or normal thicker paint also.

Love the video. I hate to be the conspiracy theorist, but isn't a freshly painted intercooler wet for at least a couple of hours. I know that it was said to be fully dry, but I've had a lot of experience with all kinds of paints and none actually are completely dry for at least a day. I could be wrong. I know a lot of spray paints I use are dry to the touch within 10 minutes, but are actually still slightly wet underneath for hours.
Again, I love the video. I may try this experiment at home, but wait a day after it dries to retest it.
To the question in the video about any downsides to painting it black. I painted my stock intercooler black and now the bugs are more visible. Also, painting versus anodizing makes paint chipping.

Nowhere near the airflow seen on the street + a hairdryer delivers the air volume of a fart.
Not sure the point of this test, but I don't think it proves anything.

Addendum: I think black intercoolers look like crap.

So from the video it seems that the black paint really only helps in a significant way when there is no airflow. When they turn on the fan the differences in temp are negligible. Aside from aesthetics (which are always debatable), doesn't seem to be any huge performance gains to be had.

I think the paint wasn't completely dry when they were testing it for heatsoak. There was a shot when they focused on one of the mounting tabs and looked like paint was bubbling which would indicate liquid. Everyone knows that hot metal with moisture on it will cool more rapidly than dry metal.

"Intercooler Sprayers"

Anodized Black Intercooler would have been a better test of color affecting temperature. Rattlecan paint goes on as a liquid and I don't think they used high heat paint either.
