What Truck?

So I love my Evo8 but also need a truck for pulling, camping, fishing and hunting. I have no knowledge of trucks. What kind of truck would you recommend that I would love like my Evo? I heard of some trucks with turbos so that sounds great.

I dunno what do you think?

You can't go wrong with any of the diesel rigs now days. I love my 03 Dodge 2500 TD! It does everything I need and is reliable as an anvil.

The newer ones are going to cost you some big bank though. Then again in my opinion they are all damned expensive if you buy a new one it doesn't matter gas or diesel.

I like the ability to mod with a diesel, just wish diesel wasn't so expensive!

I bought a f250 with the 7.3 Diesel and a huge garret 35r turbo, she has sports car performance on the highway, the tourqe is unbelievable! You wana rip someone's house off the foundation No Problem!
She had 275000 miles when I bought her a couple years ago for $3500, put about another $3k in repairs, she now has about 330000 and running strong as ever.
Find a one owner high mileage truck, the higher the mileage, the more it was taken care of with maintenance.
If you can Turbo Diesel Truck FTW!

I purchased a 14 silverado with a 5.3L gas engine. The truck overall is good, I like it. Honestly one of the most comfortable rides I've ever had in a truck and it goes down the road quietly. Another thing I like it the leg room in it, I'm pretty tall so I sit pretty far back and even at that position I don't get any complaints for backseat passengers. The thing I regret is getting a gasoline truck though. It pulls the evo & trailer okay but I feel like it's a bit too much for the truck when pulling the bigger grades. Overall though I can look past that and still enjoy it.

I love the 7.3L Powerstroke. It is one of the best, most dependable, and longest lasting diesels ever made.

I'm quite partial to the ford f150 blacktops editions by Tuscany... but obviously by the fact that I know it exists I'm a lil biased. In all honesty though its nice to have a 411hp na motor every now and then. The turbo diesels will make more power and have more "buildability" but I wouldn't do anything else to my truck, it's everything I need it to be and more(I've used it to tow snow machines, and pull at least 8 vehicles out of the ditch in the winter up here, 2 of which were trucks buried to over the front bumper in snow). Except maybe the stock tires, those suck a$$ but at least they allow me to get 600+ miles to the tank on a 6.2l engine with that much power, that's when my 5.7L sbc struggles to get 8 miles to the gallon at 360 hp, but I guess in it's defense it is a 90's truck. Plus the truck looks BA with the lift kit and everything and best feature in my opinion with all that is a factory warrantee. Downside being it costs 70k new, at least5 up here after financing and all, but at least they donate $200 to the wounded warriors project...only $200.

Don't waste your money on a gas truck. I've owned 3 and utilized a 4th that was my dad's when I was in high school. One had a V6 and was manual, 2 were 4.7 Magnum V8's (Dodge) and the other an SRT-10 with Viper V10 (my previous toy before the Evo). The cheap used F150's and Chevy/GMC trucks don't have any *** to them really and the only Dodge V8 worth a crap is the Hemi and isn't a bad option but the best bang for your buck IMO is getting an older diesel, like an early 2000's Dodge or Ford. The V8's suck on gas considering you don't get much TQ and face it, gas isn't going to stay this low for forever so don't base what you get on current gas prices. Add any amount of weight in the bed or a trailer or both, and watch those MPG and your performance go down. A diesel with a Banks or Bullydog power programmer and nice wheels/tires is the way to go. Also, not sure on the newer trucks but on older models the gas models don't typically share the same tranny as the diesel model. Diesel trans is much stronger than the gas ones. They can't rev worth a **** but can handle lots of tq.

my vote is 07 classic. then put a turbo on it.

here is my 04 z71 as of 5 minutes ago. tuning is gravy and power comes easy. 6.0l swap 9 psi speed density. all in for less than 10k. granted its a rusty turd that barely stops but pulling the trailer and passing are no problem. 18mpg when i am gentle. 14 daily when i air it out at every stop light. the sound of an ls motor with a turbo is awesome and the holy sh*t moment of spool is very surprising to passengers. every thing i own has a turbo on it. so yeah its as much fun as my evo and my grand national.

Just get you a Ford Ranger: 2008-2012. I like the older 1998-2000 gens. I don't want a massive trucks like the F150s and Rams. The are not best for towing but will carry appliances, etc. in the bed. Their fairly economical and cheap.

The only way I'd go with a gas truck again would be a F150 Ecoboost TT or do like you did and slap some FI on it, but I'd probably go the route of like a Hemi Ram with a ProCharger or something like that. But I like your mentality and what you did with that setup, that's awesome!

dude, just get a raptor... they're cheap...
but real talk... home boi....
if you get a truck, get a diesel, and that narrows it down to two runners, the 7.3 ford, and the cummins diesel, (unless you can find something built by CAT)
i for one like ford as a manufacturer but would take the cummins engine every day of the week, just not the electrically problematic dodge that comes with it

ram trucks easily have the best interior/styling but dodge software is harder to come by and a 5.3 or 6.0 gm motor is bigtime responsive to boost per dollar invested. the ford trucks having a turbo are nice but no where close to a v8 with boost. i have not dabbled with diesel so no input there.
hit you tube for turbo silverado. flacos truck and parishs truck are pretty bad a**
