Talking I saw a Saabaru Today.

Today going to lunch I drove past the Saab trainig facility here in Gwinnett GA and saw a strange loking WRX coming up from behind me. Well it was no WRX it was the new Saabaru Turbo. I had a Saab front end like in the spy pic's but had a WRX from the front door back with a little restyling to make it more Saab like and had Saab badges. It was silver with blacked out tinted windows and a dealer plate I wish I had a camera with me. Anyway this hybrid even though Subaru people might not like. I thought looked better than a Subie not that I dislike WRX's.. Just my opinion

It's a bad looking car! Just saw it on the Saab main site, as well as a cool unveiling video that you guys should check out.

It's more like GM owns parts of both companies.

So, I guess you could say that Saab and Subaru are like sister companies of GM?

If that's the case, is this the result of GM being the perverted brother that coerces his two sisters into making out on the couch for his friends?

All WRX models have AWD in the first place.

Yea, GM owns a large part of both of them. The 9-2X, or the Saabaru as everyone is calling it, is basically a fancied up Impreza wagon. Its got the Saab front end, some minor changes inside, and a little different rear. And, like all the other Saabs, there are Linear and Aero versions. The Linear being a 2.5RS based car, and the Aero being WRX based. Thats all. Price is pretty decent though, the Aero starts at like $26k, so not very much over a WRX.

They also have the new 9-7X coming out. Its also sharing with GM stuff, as its basically just a Trailblazer done up Saab-style. Its got the I-6 engine or the 5.3 V8 as an option. Should be a decent machine. I've always loved Saabs. A neighbor of mine back in middle school had an old 900. I thought it was soo cool, with the swooped back hatch, and that Porsche RS-esqe tail wing. Very different looking, but in a good way. Those crazy Swedes, always going against the grain

If you want to get REALLY technical, all MODERN Subarus have AWD. Most 80s models we're FWD, including my beloved 82.

Very true. I guess I should have been more specific. I meant every new Subaru sold today. Good call though

GM owns Saab and has a partnership with Fuji Heavy industries which produces the drive train for the WRX ...... thus GM just throws it's weight around and gets the goods for a car with a Saab label on it.
