So I was watching 5th gear on speed channel which is basically a British Car and Driver tv I guess. So they featured the new Alfa Romeo 156 GTA. I believe this car takes the cake as the best front wheel drive car. Ever . I am unsure if Alfa Romeo offers an AWD variant to their sports sedan, but even if they dont I must say..PLEASE COME BACK TO THE STATES. On that note Alfa Romeos are beautiful

 

oh yes.....I watched that last night too. I've always loved Alfa's and would be really happy if they came back here. That 156 was very sweet and the exhaust note was killer. Too bad it's FWD though.......I'm done with FWD forever

 

True. Though for a nice daily driver sedan...I'd take it. I just hope if they come to the US that they offer a awd version. I love everything else about that car....the fwd is its fatal flaw.

 

Alfa is suppose to come back to the US in 2007 with [edit] new models
There were some rumors that they gonna go AWD. Nothing yet however.
I wouldn't say that 156 is the best handling FWD ever, close to, maybe. Alfa has a big engine but it's not THAT good.
Italian reliability is still questionable although they have gone a long way.
I'd rather see Focus RS in the US which would probably drive circles around 156 and is a much more reliable car.

 

Yeah I guess the 156 does have its low points....but the styling is soo damn good.
