after about $1500 in parts and tuning, I walked away from a friend's stock m3 from a stop, but then again I do the same to stock Evos

unless the guy in the M3 is a pro driver...chances are you can just slingshot by him out of the hole namely because you have AWD
95mph trap speed? something is wrong with your cousins M3. I can understand a bad launch giving you a bad ET but trap speed should still be 100+. You sure this wasn't an e36 M3? Stock for stock I would say the Evo and M3 have similar acceleration up to about 100mph or so. After that the M3 will start to walk away. That's stock though, with some bolt ons and tuning the Evo will eat the M3 alive!

You gotta hold the traction control button for a bit longer to really disengage all computer aided controls... give that a try and see if that helps..

Are you guys comparing the M3 and the US spec Evo? Correct me if I'm wrong, I think the JDM Evo VII GSR or JDM EVO VIII MR will beat the M3 in a straight race. But I've never seen an EVO running against Ferrari or Lambo because there are modded M3s racing against one those supercars. I wish there was also a heavily modded Evo racing a Ferrari or Lambo.

yo... Al's dynoflash car (for example, and anyone similar to it) will keep up with the Enzo in the 1/4... And most modded/tuned evos would keep up with production type ferrari's, like 355 and 360. They raced a 500hp Focus v. Lamborghini in Britain, and they were dead even... low 4 sec. to 60mph, mid 12's 1/4 which is what a lot of medium modded Evo's are running.

i dont have trouble driving my car....u guys forgot about the "SPORT" button...and dont even compare $xxxx worth of mods vs ///M3 its a different class, if they cant drive the evo with $xxxx worth of mods, its not gonna make a difference, ur friend running 14.6 is a bit sad...i could pulls those times with my stock Integra

With all due respect, the "Sport" button doesn't do squat for overall 0-60 or 1/4 times. It's just a remapped throttle curve so you are getting faster throttle response but the area under the curve is still the same. Don't believe the hype...

Can someone name a list of mods needed in order to beat a e46 M3? Either from a stop or rolling start up to about 100mph, after that I dont care. Lately I see alot of e46 M3's wanting to race me but my car is still new so I cant do much but if I do race then I want to make sure I dont lose to a stock M3

If your a good driver you can beat them without any mods the 0-60 in the Evo is actually rated faster OEM than the M3 is by about 3 tenths of a second the quarter mile is about the same after that the M3 will walk away from you because they have much more top end. Your advantage will be from 0-100 in a stock Evo. You should be able to run neck and neck with them up to about 100 If you want to have a clear advantage over them just do a 3" turbo back exhaust and get the car dynoflashed or go with a stage 1 kit from vishnu either way you will spank a stock M3 with either setup

Actually, stock for stock, an S2000 can actually hang onto a stock E46 M3 at the track and never let go. I've done it out at Watkins Glen on a few occasions. The only thing is you can't make a single mistake. The M3 simply isn't nearly as quick in the corners as the S2000 was, though it would always catch up by the time the next turn came along -- so if you screwed up there, the M3 had you and you probably won't get back in front until the M3 makes a mistake.

An Evolution, granted if the driver knows what they're doing, should gain a good 3-4 seconds and change on an M3 every lap around the Glen.

I ran an e46 M3 with bolt-ons from 80-130mph. My car was clearly faster, but the M3 wasn't much slower either. You will need at least 300awhp to hang with the M3 on the freeway. From a stop, a stock EVO should give the M3 a good run.
