Hate to say it folks, but the Modena wins. Period. Hell, the Top Gear numbers between the STi WR1 and the 360 CS were considerable. 6 or 6.5 seconds.

Isn't the Challenge Stradale a considerably different set up than the Ferrari convertible? Not arguing with you, I think it will win them as well. It may not be fair to compare the CS to a convertible version though.

The CS is about 80kg lighter than the regular Modena, and a few more ponies.

But also consider than the WRX STi WR1 is improved over the regular Euro/JDM-Spec STi. The WR1 has a revised suspension, and pushed around 300HP or thereabouts I think -- I'll have to look.

So that would close the gap a bit, but I still think the pony takes the cake. Sorry, they aren't expensive because of ridiculous materials like an Aston Martin -- Ferrari's go like stink and handle to boot.

Yeah, Ferrari rules. I don't think I could ever not want a Ferrari, any Ferrari. Some of the rich bastards around here drive 360s and Testarossas, i'm so jealous.

The STI WR1 was dissapointing on Top Gear, whatever they did to it didn't help much.

I'm not jealous of TR owners. I've driven a 512 (only Ferrari I've ever driven, I've sat in 360s though) and truthfully, it was far from Ferrari's best. I really wasn't impressed.

Ferrari quality and fit and finish is much, much better now, and no ridiculously raked windshields either.

The Challenge Stradale has carbon-ceramic brakes and uses carbon fibre and titanium. All of these are probably a little "ridiculous" as far as price goes (but they do serve a purpose).

The most "ridiculous" materials used by Aston Martin are probably the wood veneer, leather, and Wilton carpet. All of these can be found on many other less expensive cars. They are also made from Aluminium but so are Ferraris.

What does add to the price is the Aston Martin name and that they are fully featured cars with expensive sound systems and other equiment. The Challenge Stradale is a race car with very few comfort features, and that is not a bad thing.

EDIT: My point was that Ferraris are expensive because they use "ridiculous" materials and also because those material make them "go like stink and handle to boot".

The way I always look at things is - if you spend as much money on the cheaper other car to come to the cost of the Ferrari it's a no brainer which is going to be quicker.
I can never justify the cost for not too big of a difference in performance.

True, but I thought Aston's leather requirements were a bit stringent -- bordering on absurd -- if I remember correctly?

Yes they are now I think about it. Leather with absolutely no blemishes from the finest cows or something.

If I recall correctly, the cows were given special feed, and were raised in pens that possessed no sharp edges. The idea was to minimize the chance that they could ever mar or scratch their hides in their lifetime.

I would have to say the Ferrari would win hands down drivers being equal. The Modena puts down some sick skidpad and slalom numbers, over 70 mph if I remember correctly. Given it is a convertible which may hurt it a bit but it is still a 12 second car with awesome handling.

anyone one that says the sti would win is a fool. the 360 modenas are great cars and their powerband is all across the board. and if anyone says that you "can" make the sti faster just remember the guy spend 150K plus for his car and a super duper modded sti or evo would be chump change to him.

PS STis suck and EVOS own!

Rather own a 360 over an STi.

Sorry, but Ferrari sounds awfully better than Subaru.

Women laugh when they see an STi. Women's panties get wet when they see a Ferrari.

Having driven a 360, and lots of other cars, at Sears Point, I am confident the Modena will beat both my RS and an STI. It has better power, grip, and most importantly, balance.

But, all is not perfect in F-car land...You have to be super hero with ***** of steel to get all the performance the Ferrari has to offer, 'cause once you turn off the traction control, all hell breaks loose and that fine line becomes very thin, indeed.

Given that, the typical fool in an STI might actually keep up with the typical fool in a Modena, but with good drivers in both cars, the 360 will spank.

The 360 is without a doubt the most fun-to-drive car I've ever had the pleasure of driving. Better than an EvoRS, z06, 550, 911, Viper, or anything else I've ever been in. Worth every penny, if you can afford it...
